Shopping Trips & Talks Of Europe...

On the bright side of today I went shopping with my mother and my sister once I was done with work. And after that I went to have a late dinner with Maria and Erin at our favorite restaurant (Yay Chilean food!). While we were out for dinner the three of us discussed the idea of going on a trip to Spain, Portugal and Morocco next year. We're gonna have to really look at everything and make an informed decision or talk Maria's boyfriend person into paying for the three of us to go to Europe (I'm really hoping it is the latter). We'll see what happens, and obviously I will end up making tons of blog posts if we decide to go to Europe.

Fried fish from our favorite Chilean restaurant. We all ordered it, yes it is that good.

Pretending To Read...

"Julia" pissed me off so badly today. I swear she did nothing at all today but pretend to read at her desk, sleep and take breaks. She literately slept at her desk from 11:30am-1:00pm with a book in her hands like she was reading. Thankfully there were other people around to see it. How stupid does she think we are?! You are sitting at your desk with a book in you hand, not turning pages and snoring. We can tell that you're not awake.

While she was doing all of this I was busting my ass this morning setting up and taking apart programs, working the reference desk, doing collection development, etc. I really don't know who this woman think she is but I swear that I am going to get all of the people that matter to realize that she is just a lazy piece of shit and maybe someone will fire her to make room for a real librarian.

365 Days Of Pictures: Day 272...

Gotta love the things I find in the picture book room.

Middle Schoolers...

I want to know what is wrong with the current generation of middle school aged children. I know that middle schoolers throughout the ages have typically not been the most desirable of humans because of all of the hormones and such. But I swear that the current batch have all been exposed to something that has caused them to be stupider than generations past and I honestly don't understand what possess them to do the crap that they do.

What did they do today you ask? Well, aside from the normal mouthy group (One girl in particular gave "Emily" an earful) and the ones that sneak on the computers after we tell them they aren't allowed on anymore (The two moron brothers that we banned from the computers for two weeks for looking at inappropriate websites), we had these two girls hiding underneath one of our desks in the computer wearing coats and such. What the hell would posses them to do that?! When I yelled at them to get from under the desk they giggles like fools and ran away. Why?! I don't understand the need to do such stupid crap. I hate middle school aged children.

Another Mouse Bites The Dust...

I know you're reading the title going "Another one? She hasn't mentioned mice since her 249th photo of the day..." Well, as of yesterday we've caught two mice in the house. Unfortunately one was caught in my bedroom (Thankfully it was in one of those round traps and my parents dealt with it) and the other one I just found dead in a snap trap in our kitchen. FYI those snap traps are loud when they go off, I live in a split level house and I heard it from my bedroom with the door closed.

I really hope there aren't any more running around. I do feel bad for them. They are just little field mice and I typically think mice are cute (I had pet rats in college when I lived with Liz). Also I'm not happy with the use of snap traps but it's not my house and my mother bought them because the other traps weren't working according to her -- I think she finally got them because she figured out that the mice in our house really like chocolate instead of the peanut butter she had been putting in the other traps.

So, that's the up-to-date news on our mouse problem.

Beginning Of A Bucket List...

Honestly I didn't really do much today at work. I did whatever random tasks my Department Head asked me to do yesterday and then I was pretty much free for the rest of the day because it was super slow. So, I ended up working on a handwritten bucket list thanks to Lenni and her bucket list that my Department Head and I were looking at yesterday. Yeah, I know what you're thinking... You're thinking that I already have my "No Regrets" list do 26th things by my 27th birthday blah blah blah, but this one is kinda different. This list consists of things that I know are gonna take me more than a year to do and that I'd like to do before I kick it one day. I'm not going to type everything out that I wrote, I will give you a sampling of what is on it though. Plus you all know that if I just so happen to get something on the list done that I'll be posting about it anyways.

A Sampling Of My Ultimate Bucket List
  • Own a coffee shop This is actually mine and Phil's dream
  • Witness the running of the bulls
  • Ride a camel
  • Visit the wreckage of the Titanic aboard a submarine
  • Attend a Native American sweat lodge ceremony
  • Find my doppelganger

Cyber Monday Shopping...

I couldn't help myself and I ended up ordering a handful of books today off of Amazon (Not that there were any cyber Monday discount on them, which sucked). All of them are pretty silly, but it's crap that I enjoy.

"No Regrets" List Book Search...

I was thinking about how I haven't really had a chance to get a lot of things on my current "No Regrets" list done, so I went searching online for lists of great works of literature in hopes that I could get number twenty-two (#22 Indulge in a Great Work of Literature) out of the way.

I found the following list here and asked my Department Heads which out of the books that I haven't read should I read. 365 Days Of Pictures: Day 269...

Night In With Friends...

Phil has been house and dog sitting for one of our other friends for the past few nights, so last night Justin, myself and two of our other friends decided to keep him and the dog company (The person who owns the house knew we were all there, so no one is going to get in trouble).

It was a pretty relaxed evening. The most effort put into the evening was Phil, Justin and I going shopping so that Phil could make his famous guacamole and I could make some super spicy salsa. We made our respective dips and ended up going down to the den to watch movies, play homemade (dirty) versions of Apples to Apples and Pictionary, drink and just hang out. It was a nice, chill evening.

Trip To The Lighthouse...

Justin and I decided that since we didn't have anything better to do today (There is no way in hell that you'd catch either of us out shopping on Black Friday) and being that it was so nice out that we'd drive over to the Fire Island Lighthouse.

We walked the path, wandered around the lighthouse and walked up the 156 steps to the top to see the view, which was nice but it would have been better in the spring or summer time because all of the vegetation isn't at its peak.

It wasn't terribly exciting, but it was something nice and mellow to do on such a beautiful day.

I would really like to know why every time I have a day off someone has to walk into my bedroom, calls me, texts me or whatever. Everyday this past week someone has woken me up when I didn't need to be up. All I want to do it sleep in!!!

365 Days Of Pictures: Day 266...

'Twas The Day Before Thanksgiving...

Justin and I just so both happen to be off today so we ended up spending the day together. He actually called me and woke me up this morning asking me when was I gonna come over and hang out with him.

After a quick shower and throwing together some mini pudding pies (It is my only task everything Thanksgiving, so I had to get them made. I even made a post about them last year) I headed over to Justin's to spend the day with him.

As soon as I got to Justin's I was surprised to see that he had taken my Christmas tree out for me. It made me super happy to see it, especially since last December I got hurt and we didn't end up putting it out. So as you can guess, I busted out my ornaments and decorated it.

If you're wondering why the tree is decked out in Mets ornaments the story behind that goes as follows... The first Christmas season that he was in his apartment I begged him for a tree even though we don't live together. After much nagging he agreed but only if I decorated it in a Mets theme every year. I accepted his terms because I really wanted a tree and since then we have had a Mets themed tree.

After decorating the tree we headed out for some lunch and to buy some booze for Thanksgiving, a few Christmas presents, coffee and groceries. Once we were done with all of that we came back to the apartment and I ended up wrapping the gifts that Justin had already had around the apartment -- I figured I'd start wrapping them as they came in instead of waiting until the last minute and wrapping tons of presents at once.

At some point while we were just hanging out we decided to go see The Muppets (2011). It was really good. I really enjoyed the movie. Even Justin who isn't big on the Muppets enjoyed it. So if you were thinking about going to see it, I'd say go for it.

That is how I spent my day before Thanksgiving...

Starving For Attention...

"Julia" seemed extra off balance to me today. She kept talking to me and/or butting in to conversations like I was actually going to entertain whatever chemical was off whack in her brain today. First she started with asking me about any murmurings of a holiday party (In reality I have no idea what is going on in terms of a holiday party because I refuse to attend this year, so I could care less about it but I didn't say that to her), then she started butting in on the conversation I was having with "Lori" and "Amy" about the bridesmaids dress I have to wear to my friend's wedding in January and then she proceeded to try to get involved in a conversation I was having with "Emily" and "Lori" about dog clothing.

She seemed extra starved for attention or something today. I refuse to play games or even acknowledge any utterance that comes from her direction. I don't know why she thinks that she can be a total bitch one day and try to be buddy-buddy the next day. That crap doesn't fly with me.

Faces To The Names: "Julia"...

About a week and a half ago I decided that I was going to draw all of the people that I mention here in the blog so that faces (Albeit, cartoon faces) can be places with names. I shall call this little venture Names To The Faces (Not my best title, but whatever) and post one picture of a person I mention when I feel like it (Aka when I have nothing else to blog about). I decided to start off with "Julia" even though I've drawn pictures of her before.

It's probably because I really haven't had a chance to really read through the Huffington Post in a while, but I just saw that they have a whole section dedicated to libraries and it is called Libraries In Crisis. I thought I'd post about it just in case anyone else didn't know.

And Rumors Begin...

I walked into the building a little before 12:00pm and was bombarded with questions about what happened yesterday. I clarified my version of what happened with a few of the ladies at the Circulation Desk and left it at that. But unfortunately I heard "Aubrey" and another not so friendly Clerk whom I shall call "Olivia" talking shit in the stairwell. God knows what they are up to because they hate our Security Guard and "Aubrey" hates me with a passion. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

365 Days Of Pictures: Day 259...

Re Re: Return Of Stalker #1...

Around 2:00pm I found out "Stalker #1" was in the building and I went to the librarian's office to hide. "Leslie" found him and pointed him out to our Director, our Head Custodian and my Department Head. All of them told him that he was not allowed near me and that there was no reason for him to enter the Youth Services Department. He tried to pretend like he didn't know anything about the car thing and kept mumbling about just wanting me to help him with an issue on his card. My Director told him that I am no longer a Circulation Clerk and that I am not the right person to help him with Circulation and/or Adult Department issues and that he needs to leave me alone.

Apparently after all of this he didn't leave the building and later on when our Security Guard saw him he told him off and told him he was never allowed to speak to me again, etc.

I understand that he wanted my help with a library related issue, but you shouldn't be mentioning my car when describing me. It's creepy that he knew what kind of car I drive and he kept talking about it. It didn't help that I found out from one of the Adult Librarians that he scams people, has harassed others on staff, has been picked up by the police for stealing from people, etc. That freaks me out and makes me want to interact with you ever again.

I really hope this is all over but God knows it's not.

Reading Rainbow...

Re: Return Of Stalker #1...

The plot of the "Stalker #1" story thickens. I was informed by "Marie" and "Amy" that after I left on Monday he came in asking "Lori" for the librarian with the prescription glasses who drives my car brand -- They all assumed he was talking about our Department Head because she drives the same brand of car that I do, but alas he was talking about me.

I am officially freaked out by the fact that he mentioned my car in his description. And as a result of me being freaked out the whole staff is on alert about him bothering me and my Director is ready to deal with him -- Even though he was joking around that I can take care of myself and that "Stalker #1" should be more afraid of me than I am of him. I'm actually expecting him to walk in later today, so I'll keep posting on what is going on.
