LatinTRENDS 100th Issue Event...

Last night I had the honor of attending LatinTRENDS' 100th issue event in New York City at Stage 48.

The event was hosted by Roselyn Sanchez from Lifetime's Devious Maids (2013-Present), Odalys Molina from Telemundo and J.W. Cortés. There was an amazing performance by Top Stop Music artist Leslie Grace, who just so happens to be the youngest woman to ever top Billboard's Latin Airplay chart (I'll put some of her music below in case any of you are interested and feel like dancing the bachata). There was a buffet, hors d'oeuvres and an open bar with cocktails from Absolut, which my sister and I took full advantage of.

I can't even begin to explain how much fun my sister and I had. It would probably be easier for me just to show you...

I really had an amazing time and met some equally amazing people (Sarah & Martha). I hope LatinTRENDS just keeps hitting those milestones as it continues to be a source of pop culture with a Latin twist (And that I get invited to more bad ass parties).

Book Review: Confessions Of A Hater...

High school was pretty much like this huge party I wasn't actually invited to, but I still had to show up to every day.

Hailey Harper has always felt invisible. Now her dad has a new job and the family is moving to Hollywood. Just what Hailey needs: starting a new high school.

As she’s packing, Hailey finds a journal that belonged to her older sister, Noel, who is away at college. Called "How to be a Hater," it’s full of info Hailey can really use. Has Hailey found the Bible of Coolness? Will it help her reinvent herself at her new school? Will her crush notice her? Will she and the other Invisibles dethrone the popular mean girls? After all, they deserve it. Don’t they?

So, I got my little librarian hands on an advance copy of Caprice Crane's newest novel Confessions of a Hater -- Which is due out today. And oh boy, do we need to talk about this book (Or I need to talk about this book... Or whatever).

I don't know about you guys, but young adult fiction is one of my favorite genres. Especially girly high school drama-y type of books (Stop judging me). So as you can probably guess I was super excited when this bad boy landed on my doorstep over a week before its actual release date -- Yay press copies!

The minute I opened the packaging I started reading this book and I was hooked. I don't necessarily know if I fell in love with Hailey or author Caprice Cane (I am going to inter library loan all of Caprice's other novels as soon as I'm done writing this) or both, but someone stole a little piece of my heart.

Confessions of a Hater is well written, funny (I legit laughed out loud during parts) and one of the best books of its kind that I've read in a while.

Whether you're looking to reminisce about your high school days (I'm personally ten years out as of this past June) or are currently trying to survive them, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy this book or at least learn a lesson or two from Hailey and the Invisibles.

If you guys decide to grab a copy and read it I'd love to know what you thought of it!

Tech Feed News Featuring My Girl Chas...

Last month I mentioned that my friend Chastity who works as an Associate Producer for the YouTube channel Tech Feed got to host her very own episode. Well, since doing that first video she has done a bunch more and I'm pretty sure they are just going to keep on coming. And because I'm so proud of her I wanted to share the videos that she has done as of thus far...

If you enjoy her make sure to give her a thumbs up!

N'SYNC Reunion? Yes Please...

I don't know about all of you but I'm super excited about this N'SYNC VMAs reunion rumor that has been flying around for the past couple of days. And because my inner fan girl is running rampant I made a playlist.

And to go with the playlist above here are some sweet gifs, which I don't normally post because this isn't Tumblr but for this post I'm doing it...

Librarians Do The Beastie Boys' Sabotage...

Here is proof that librarians are super quirky funny awesome people (If you didn't already get that from reading my little blog)....

How awesome is it that these librarians made a library version of the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" video? I can't tell you how much I'm in love with this video, these librarians, etc.

Crazy Ladies & Reading Comprehension...

Oh, did I just have the mother of all "reference" phone calls... I was literately on the phone with this woman for over ten minutes as she explained to me that her daughter was going into tenth grade (Private school) and how she though she needed to read more for pleasure, how she thought that she should read classics (What tenth grader wants to read classics for pleasure?!). Then she starts talking about how she left her house without her purse and only had five dollars on her and then she realized that she could go to an ATM -- She thanked me for whatever I jogged in her brain to get to that. Then she starts talking to me about PSAT books and reading comprehension. She made me read through a PSAT, SAT and English Regents book because she wanted to know about what kind of reading comprehension work was in them. In the middle of all of this she tells me she is in front of a Trader Joe's because she was going to buy some organic figs. At some other point she starts telling me that her daughter's friend was having a $35,000 sweet sixteen and how she told the mom of the girl that she should be spending her money on her child's education, how she wants her own daughter to go to Brown, etc. It was such an odd conversation and it lasted forever (Towards the end of it I was pretending to stab myself in the neck as I was sitting at the reference desk). I mean, she thanked me at the end of it for being so helpful but still, I just wasted minutes of my life that I'm never going to get back and I'm going to have to deal with this lady tomorrow because she had me pull tons of books.

It's been a long time since I've had to deal with someone on the phone like I just did, so I guess it was kinda overdue. But it's still annoying every time it happens. Do any of you deal with people like this at work?

Sunday Social...

1. What Is Something You’ve Always Wanted To Do But Are Afraid Of?
"Favorite Page #1" said I want to swim with sharks and that is scary, but that doesn't scare me. I'm more afraid of having LASIK than swimming with sharks.

2. Where Do You See Yourself In Five Years?
Hopefully alive.

3. What Are You Looking Forward To Before The End Of 2013?
Going to Cancun with my friends next month!

4. What Are Your Hopes For Your Blog?
That people read it and enjoy my little life adventures.

5. Do You Always See Yourself Living In Your Current Town/City?
Nope. We just moved to our apartment in May and we're already talking about looking for a house.

6. What Is Your Morning Routine?
I wake up almost every morning to the 'Alarm' sound on my iPhone, turn on the TV to CBS (I don't know why, but I enjoy CBS This Morning), take a shower, get dressed, do my hair, have a cup of coffee and then drive to work.

Stuck In My Head: Freakum Dress...

Honestly this one is totally stuck in my head because of all of the dress shopping talk earlier...

Online Dress Shopping For My Friend's Wedding...

So, I am attending the wedding of one of my college friends in mid-September and it's taking place at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion here on Long Island in the afternoon on a Sunday.
My friend and his fiancé did not put a dress code on the invitation (Which really pisses me off when people do that). So I texted him to ask him about it and all I get is "Use your judgement... Don't dress like a skank..." (Um, excuse me? I only dress like a skank during appropriate skank events).

So this is me using my judgement, asking all of you what you think of this dress from ASOS. I'm kinda in love with this ASOS CURVE Maxi Dress With Bell Sleeve (Black) and I'm thinking it'll either be amazing or a totally disaster.
What do you guys think? When I asked my sister, Lisa and Liz I got the same exact answer "[Ooh] I like.." -- I blame the fact that they are all 1987 kiddies on that answer. My cousin who is older than me grilled me on whose wedding it was, time of day, etc. Eventually telling me it was okay to wear.

So lemme know what you think because I'd really appreciate it!
