Night Out In Brooklyn | Homegrown Heroes Music Festival...

Friday night Day and I headed into Brooklyn to go to the Homegrown Heroes Music Festival at The Paper Box because we know one of the members of The Driggs. So we went out to show our support and rock out with the hipsters in Bushwick East Williamsburg (We even dressed the part because as you guys know, that's how we roll).

We got to Brooklyn before the doors opened at The Paper Box, so we decided to kill some time by going to grab a quick dinner and some drinks at The Anchored Inn. Which was awesome, and all we had were their Carmen Fries and a couple of Downeast Ciders.

Eventually after getting a few texts from our friend in the band, we closed our tab out and headed over to the venue. Which killed us because The Anchored Inn had air conditioning and The Paper Box did not. But since the concert was the main reason for our trek out to Brooklyn we sucked it up.
Thankfully The Paper Box had an outdoor area, so Day and I hung out there until The Driggs went on because it was honestly too hot in that damn venue to stand around and watch other bands.

While we were out there, we did end up making friends with a dude that ended up being a scout for the record label that was throwing the festival. We bullshitted and had a few drinks with him before going inside to sweat our asses off watching The Driggs.

After their set, Day and I ran back outside (Because we were dying and didn't want to have heat strokes) and waited for our friend to get back from dropping the equipment off at the studio area near by that the band rents.

For some reason it took forever, so we decided to run back to The Anchored Inn to have another drink. Eventually he met up with us, as did the lead singer of the band and some of their friends.

The newcomers didn't think The Anchored Inn was cool enough, so we wandered around the corner to The Well which was deemed a much cooler spot. We had a round of drinks before bumming the lead singer out be getting an Uber to drive us to Jamaica Station so we'd be able to catch a 12-something AM train back to Long Island.

Even though it was hot as hell, we had a really great night out in Brooklyn and it was a great way to kick off Memorial Day weekend. I can't wait to see the band again (Especially in an air conditioned venue) because they are actually really good.

If you wanna check out the band for yourself, here is a video of them performing one of their songs...

If you check it out lemme know, they love to know what people think of them and their music.

10 Cloverfield Lane & Relationship Goals...

Tomorrow J.J. Abrams and up-and-coming director
Dan Trachtenberg's 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) comes out on Digital HD (The Blu-ray Combo Pack June 14th for those of you that like having physical copies of movies) and I'm super excited about it because some how Justin and I missed seeing it while it was in theaters back in March, but we both have yet to be spoiled as to what the movie is actually about. Which I feel is like some kind of movie miracle because Justin is an avid IGN reader and I love me a spoiler.

So needless to say, Justin and I will be watching this in the upcoming weeks. Maybe I'll even get him to re-watch Cloverfield (2008) because even though I haven't seen it since we saw it in theaters when it first came out, I remember us both really enjoying it and joking that there was no way in hell we'd try to save one another if shit went down like it did in the movie. And it was just the funniest thing because we had seen it with friends who were dating at the time and they were all "Oh my God, I'd totally try and save you... I love you so much..." While Justin and I were like "Um, yeah no... BYE!" (Aren't Justin and I so #RelationshipGoals?) Which I love because we're still together and they broke up shortly after. But I digress...

I'm excited to add 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) to my watched movie list this month and can't wait to finally talk to people about it because I know a handful of my friends have seen it but they've kept their mouths shut.

Have any of you seen it? Did you enjoy it? Did you hate it? Did you not see it but want to? Lemme know!

And as always, here is the trailer for any of you that are interested and haven't seen it...

Bottles Of Champs & Hotel Parties | Brunch...

Over the weekend myself, my sister, Day, Toni, Liz and Rob went and had a brunch outing in New York City. And even though we tend to be creatures of habit we decided we need to try a different restaurant, and this time we had our brunch outing at Il Bastardo in Chelsea.

As we did last month, we woke up way too early to catch the LIRR into New York City. When we got to Penn Station we found Rob, who live near a different line than the rest of us, and then walked over to Il Bastardo. Where we had to wait on a line to get in -- Which should have been a warning.
Once we got inside Il Bastardo and were seated we knew we were under dressed but we honestly didn't care because nothing mattered but the six of us eating mediocre good food, getting tipsy (Everyone gets their own bottle of champagne or other liter beverage) and enjoying each others company. Which we did for not even exactly two hours and then our server rudely made us leave our table.
Instead of sticking around and spending more money there (Which Day, Liz and I did last time we went to brunch because we were just having the best time at Vamos Tacos & Tequila), we moved on.

Some how Liz and Day ended up in Chelsea Kennel Club looking at puppies. Annoyed, the rest of us ran across the street to Zagara Wine Bar for some wine. Eventually they joined us.

After one glass of wine each; Rob decided to head back to Long Island, while the rest of us headed downtown to the Andaz Wall Street, where one of our friends had a hotel room for the night.
We had a "sexy" hotel party for about two hours. Which just involved us drinking more, dancing around the room and making fun of our friend.

When we had our fill of oversized bathtub selfies, we walked over to a bar that I still don't remember the name of. Ate a bunch of appetizers and drank some more, before we decided it was time to go home.

So despite the fact that Il Bastardo being just meh, we had a great day with each other. And I'm pretty sure that brunch at different restaurants in New York City is going to become our other monthly (Fat Kid Dinners being the other) tradition. Which I'm not mad at...

What are your thoughts on brunch? Do you go often? Not at all? Lemme know!

PS - The original title of this blog post was going to be "Five Spanish Chicks White Girl Wasted" and then Rob decided that the was joining us and I thought better of making the title "Five Spanish Chicks & A Gay Dude White Girl Wasted." Just thought that might amuse some of you...

Slowly Booking Japan & Hong Kong...

I know I must sound like a broken record but since the car accident everything got a little thrown off in mine and Justin's lives, and we've been playing catch up since. Especially in terms of booking things for our upcoming trip to Japan and Hong Kong.

Right before everything happened Justin was in the middle of researching Airbnbs and hotels for us to stay at, then I got into the accident and he was thrown into dealing with our insurance company and looking into buying me a new car. So all of our trip planning stuff got pushed aside.

It literally wasn't until this past week or so that we've been able to jump back into trip planning mode (The blog post I put up a few weeks ago, "Getting Ready For Japan & Hong Kong" was something I had been compiling since we decided we were going so that didn't really count), which is something we really needed to get back into because the trip is creeping up.

So since jumping back in, Justin booked us a pretty sweet little place to stay in while in Shibuya (Which I'm so excited to stay at and take pictures of to share with you guys) and we've gotten ourselves tickets to the Studio Ghibli Museum.

There is still a lot of planning for us to do. We still need Airbnbs and/or hotels for Kyoto, Osaka and Hong Kong/Kowloon. As well as to buy tickets for all of the things we want to do while we are there (Tokyo Disneyland, Akiba Fukurou Owl Cafe, etc). But yeah, hopefully we get our asses in gear this week and get everything else booked.

Fingers crossed we get everything done soon.

Swim Trunks & Flippie-Floppies | On A Boat With Classroom Instruments...

Can we please talk about The Lonely Island on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night doing "I'm On A Boat" with classroom instruments?

I don't know about you guys, but I absolutely love "I'm On A Boat" by The Lonely Island. So I was so excited to see them do it with Jimmy and The Roots with classroom instruments.

The whole thing was kinda nostalgic for me, bringing back those 2009 vibes because even though it was just a Grammy-nominated SNL skit it was totally my jam back in the day. Plus I've actually sang/rapped it at karaoke before (And I'd do it again if the song was available at a karaoke bar, because I know ALL the words).

And then what makes it even better is that you have Jorma sitting there the whole time with the dunce cap on and "The Joy of Land" book?! Just amazing.

So you guys digging it as much as I am? Or am I just a weirdo? Lemme know!

PS - It's totally stuck in my head now.

Satly Poetry | A Haiku...

Last week someone was really rude to Nicole on Facebook, so much so that she deleted the post that prompted the rude comment and rightfully complained about the incident for days. So jokingly while we were working together (After helping a patron whose second grader had a poetry project that we helped the parent with extensively) we started writing haikus about being salty. And we've been on a roll with it ever since.

Since we've written so many poems I thought I'd share my favorite, which if you follow me on Instagram you may or may not have seen. So here it is, remember it's just a stupid poem and I wrote it to make my friend feel better about something shitty someone said to her...
If you wanna see the other poems we wrote lemme know. If you don't and I offended you, sorry.

Fat Kid | Not So Grand Fiesta...

If you saw my Doodlegraph post from about two weeks ago, you know my friends and I were planning a huge Mexican themed Fat Kid celebrate. Well that celebration was supposed to take placed this past weekend and boy did things fall apart.

Three of my friends got sick, one so badly that they are currently in the hospital. One's mother told them out of the blue that they needed to attend a family party that day. One's job decided that they needed to stay because an inspector was coming, so that meant that person and their significant other weren't coming. Another one got held up, so on and so forth...

So yeah, our big epic kid-less booze-filled fiesta turned into a way smaller gathering, with children.

I mean, we still had a blast those of us that actually attended (Because there was no way in hell we were cancelling because we bought and prepped food, etc.) but it was just so sad because we spent all this money buying decorations and props. So hopefully we can have a do over in the near future when people are feeling better and hopefully weird things don't pop up.
But yeah the handful of us that did attend did as we normally do during Fat Kid; ate too much, drank too much and had way too much food left over because we always make more food than we should. So we had a great day but it wasn't exactly the day we had planned and we missed the people who couldn't be there.

I feel so bad for my sick friends, especially the one currently hospitalized because they were so looking forward to this Fat Kid. Hopefully everyone gets better soon, especially since we planned another boozy brunch in New York City in a few weeks.

Stuck In My Head | Regulate...

As you guys know, I got into a car accident back in March and I totaled my car. Well I obviously had to get a new car and with my new car I got a three month trial subscription to SiriusXM. And much to my own surprise, I really like it. Like so much so I'm contemplating paying for s subscription when my trial is up.

So since getting it I've been flipping between it (Specifically: SiriusXM FLY, 90's on 9, Pop2k and a handful of over stations) and my podcasts.

Well because I've been so into SiriusXM FLY and 90's on 9, I've heard Warren G and Nate Dogg's "Regulate" so many times can't even count and it's been stuck in my head for the longest time now. And you guys know, if it's stuck in my head I have to get it stuck in other people's heads. So here it is...

"If your ass is a buster 213 will regulate..."

Sorry.

CLOSED | Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising Giveaway...

Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising hits theaters in two weeks and in honor of it's upcoming release I am giving away three (3) prize packs which each includes one (1) baseball cap and one (1) t-shirt.
Returning stars Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Rose Byrne are joined by ChloĆ« Grace Moretz for Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, the follow-up to 2014’s most popular original comedy.  Nicholas Stoller again directs in a film that follows what happens when the will of parenthood goes against the bonds of sisterhood.
Now that Mac (Rogen) and Kelly Radner (Byrne) have a second baby on the way, they are ready to make the final move into adulthood: the suburbs.  But just as they thought they’d reclaimed the neighborhood and were safe to sell, they learn that the new occupants next door are a sorority even more out of control than Teddy (Efron) and his brothers ever dreamed of being.
Tired of their school’s sexist, restrictive system, the unorthodox ladies of Kappa Nu have decided to start a house where they can do whatever the hell they want.  When Shelby (Moretz) and her sisters, Beth (Kiersey Clemons) and Nora (Beanie Feldstein), find the perfect place just off campus, they won’t let the fact that it’s located on a quiet street stand in their way of parties as epic as the guys throw.
Forced to turn to the one ex-neighbor with the skills to bring down the new Greeks next door, the Radners—alongside best friends Jimmy (Ike Barinholtz) and Paula (Carla Gallo)—bring in charismatic Teddy as their secret weapon.  If he can infiltrate the sorority and charm his way through it, the thirtysomethings will shutter the Kappas’ home.  But if they think that their neighbors are going down without a fight, they have severely underestimated the power of youthful ingenuity and straight-up crazy.
