Beer Olympics

Last Saturday we held our first annual Beer Olympics in Toni & Tom's backyard. It was comprised of sixteen people on four teams (Team Red, Team Blue, Team Green and Team Yellow) of four people competing in six events, with one referee. And because we all had so much fun, I thought that I'd share what we did in case any of you decides that you want to throw their own Beer Olympics.

Before we even thought of events, we came up with our "House Rules" that we posted almost every time we posted an update about the day on Facebook.

House Rules
• Respect the property
• Absolutely NO Fighting
• All events will be explained prior to the event
• Referee's decisions are FINAL
• NO Arguing with the referee
• Operation of vehicles are PROHIBITED
• NO posting photos on Facebook

And the most important rule of all...

By agreeing to participate in Beer Olympics you forfeit your right to sue the homeowners if you get hurt

After establishing the rules, we then worried about what events we'd be playing.

We knew off the bat that we had to play beer pong in some form or two and that slip & flip was a must. The other events were ones we found when searching "Beer Olympics" on Pinterest.

Here are the events we decided on...

Ice Ice Baby
Supplies:
• Beer
• Ice Cube Trays One (1) per number of team members
Crazy Straws One (1) for every player

Instructions:
Fill the ice cube tray with your favorite drink or beer then give 2 contestants a straw. Each player starts at the same end of the tray but in opposite lanes. Someone starts them and the racers suck all the contents out of each cubicle. Once they are done their teammate can start. Which ever team finishes first is the winner.

Bucket Pong
Supplies:
• Beer
• Buckets
• Balls
• Water

Instructions:
Each team takes turn throwing a ball into the other team's buckets. Once a ball lands in a bucket, the bucket is taken away and each member of the team then drinks for a count of three (3) by the other team captain. If both teammates hit the bucket, the balls are rolled back and they get to shoot again. The team that successfully hits all of the opponent’s buckets wins the game.

Water Shooter Blasters One (1) per number of teams

Instructions:
Ping pong balls are placed on top of empty beer bottles and a member of each team must take a shot of their drink, shoot the ping pong ball off the bottle, run and place the ping pong ball back on top of the bottle so that their next team member can go do the same. First team to finish wins.

Each game was played four times to determine which team was first, second, third and fourth (Think a tournament bracket). With the first place team receiving four points, the second place team receiving three points, the third place team receiving two points and the fourth place team receiving one point. Additional points were awarded for each team member wearing the team color and for bringing ice. Points were deducted if the team ran out of beer before the end of the events (We made it mandatory for everyone to bring at least a twelve pack of whatever they wanted to drink).

THE ONLY PICTURE I TOOK DURING BEER OLYMPICS
Because we're super extra, we ordered things like; inflatable torches, an Olympic flag, metals, balloons, a whistle, etc. to make the games more "official" but you totally don't have to.

It took some effort to plan but we all had a great time. I can't wait to do it again next summer or possibly even this winter because we've been half joking about snow events.

Have you held your own Beer Olympics? If you have, what did you play? If you haven't, would you consider holding one? Lemme know!
