Second Annual Beer Olympics

Over the weekend we held our second annual Beer Olympics. It was comprised of seventeen people on three teams of four and one team of five (Team Red, Team Blue, Team Green and Team Yellow) competing in five events, with three referees. And because we all had so much fun, I thought that I'd share what we did in case any of you decides that you want to throw their own Beer Olympics.

House Rules
• Respect the property
• Absolutely NO Fighting
• All events will be explained prior to the event
• Referee's decisions are FINAL
• NO Arguing with the referee
• Operation of vehicles are PROHIBITED
• NO posting photos on Facebook

And the most important rule of all...

By agreeing to participate in Beer Olympics you forfeit your right to sue the homeowners if you get hurt

After establishing the rules, we then worried about what events we'd be playing.

We knew off the bat that we had to play beer pong in some form or two and that slip & flip was a must. The other events were ones we found when searching "Beer Olympics" on Pinterest.

Here are the events we decided on for this year's festivities...

Ice Ice Baby
Supplies:
• Beer
• Ice Cube Trays One (1) per number of team members
Crazy Straws One (1) for every player

Instructions:
Fill the ice cube tray with your favorite drink or beer then give 2 contestants a straw. Each player starts at the same end of the tray but in opposite lanes. Someone starts them and the racers suck all the contents out of each cubicle. Once they are done their teammate can start. Which ever team finishes first is the winner.

Slip & Flip
Supplies:
• Beer
Slip 'N Slide We used two (2) and overlapped them to make it longer
• Table
• Cups One (1) for every player

Instructions:
Teams will stand at opposite side of the slip n slide mat. At the sound off the referee's whistle, the first two players will slide down the mat, chug their drink, then flip the cup it is in. Once flipped their next team member can go. First team to flip all cups wins the game.

Pool Beer Pong

Supplies:
• Beer
Pool Beer Pong Float
Ping Pong Balls
• Cups

Instructions:
Each team takes turn throwing a ping pong ball into the other team's cups while in the pool. Once a ball lands in a cup, the cup is taken away and the opponent then drinks the contents of the cup. If both teammates hit cups, the balls are rolled back and they get to shoot again. The team that successfully hits all of the opponent’s cups wins the game.

Flip-Tac-Toe

Supplies:
• Beer
• Cups (Two different colors)
• Table
• Painters Tape

Instructions:
Take the painters tape and make a 3x3 board on a table. Pour 1/4 cup of beer into each cup. The players (In order) will take turns drinking, flipping and placing their cup down until their team gets three cups in a row.  This game is played in three rounds. Best out of five wins.

Hide & Go Drink

Supplies:
• Beer
• Multi-Colored Hair Ties

Instructions:
Without out any contestants around, have the referees hide beers (One per person playing) with hair ties that coordinate with the teams colors throughout a designated space. Once the beers are hidden, all players must line up and at the sound of the referee's whistle the players run to find the beers with their teams colors on them. Once found the player must chug the beer. The first team to find all their beers and chug them wins.

WE DIDN'T END UP PLAYING THIS BECAUSE IT WAS TOO HOT OUT AND WE GOT LAZY

As we did last year, each game was played four times to determine which team was first, second, third and fourth (Think a tournament bracket). With the first place team receiving four points, the second place team receiving three points, the third place team receiving two points and the fourth place team receiving one point. Additional points were awarded for each team member wearing the team color and for bringing ice. Points were deducted if the team ran out of beer before the end of the events (We made it mandatory for everyone to bring at least a twelve pack of whatever they wanted to drink).

It took a little less effort to plan this year because we knew which games worked and what didn't from the last go around. And because we still had a bunch of stuff from last year (The Slip 'N Slides, inflatable torches, Olympic flag, metals, whistle, etc.)

Have you held your own Beer Olympics? If you have, what did you play? If you haven't, would you consider holding one? Lemme know!
