I cannot believe that as of today it has been exactly a month since the last time I went to work. You'd think I'd be enjoying not going to work but I really don't. I'm all sorts of bored to the point where I'm constantly looking for something to do around Justin's place (His apartment had NEVER been this clean) as I sit around waiting to hear something about my job and when I can go back to work.
I was once told by an unemployed friend that after a week or so of sleeping in late it gets old and you really want/need something to do because it gets boring really quickly, which I didn't believe when they told me but they were completely right. Sleeping in and watching daytime television is getting boring.
I mean, I've been running around and doing various things for my family whenever they ask me to but having to do randomness has become less and less as our house has been cleanedish and is being fixed. We have electricity, running/hot water, etc. The only thing we don't have yet is heat because my parents had to order a new boiler and that is thankfully going to be installed tomorrow. Once we get that in we can all technically move back in because our bedrooms weren't damaged during the storm, but the house still have a lovely odor thanks to all flood/sewer water that molded our den.
But yeah, it's crazy to think that it's almost been a month since Hurricane Sandy hit and ruined everything. And that my library still isn't open.
When I was unemployed for nine months, that was pure tortue. After an hour, the apartment was CLEAN and I had the rest of the day to do NOTHING. Now that I own a fixer upper home though, I would love for some time off. I had taken five days off for the thanksgiving weekend and enjoyed every day of it. I would NOT want to never have a job to go back to though! I think having small amounts of time off is best :/ Hope your life gets back to "normal" as soon as possible!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI can't imagine nine months not working. I'm sorry you had deal with that.
Totally, small doses off is the best.
Oh, wow. It hurts my heart to think how much damage has been done to libraries by Hurricane Sandy. I love libraries - always have. I worked at one in high school. I'm a bookworm. My favorite thing to remind people is that, IMHO, the destruction of the library at Alexandria was one of the greatest tragedies in human history. (I'm also an armchair archeologist LOL).
ReplyDeletePopped over to follow you back from my blog, Shona Skye Creations! I'm following via GFC. Happy to have you and happy to be here!

wow, i can't IMAGINE what that must feel like - i live pretty far away from your part of the world so it's not something that i think about on an every day basis, but i can't imagine how tough that must be..are they working to get it fixed?
ReplyDeleteThey are working on fixing it but because the school district owns our building it took way too long to actually start working on the structure. But thankful the ball started rolling the other day.
Deletehi there. thanks for visiting me today. gosh, im so sorry about all the damage you have endured over there. it's one thing to get time off and another to not be able to get to work because of something like this. i hope it all gets taken care of soon! have a super day!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteScholastic is donating books to libraries affected by Sandy if you'd like to try to apply for our library.

Oh thanks! I'll get on that right now.
DeleteHas it been a month since Sandy? I can't believe how much damage it has caused. When I stopped working, I was never bored! I think I worked MORE after loosing my job! There was so much to do!

I doesn't feel like it but it has been.
DeleteI wish I had things to do to kill the time. All I've been doing is cooking for my boyfriend because I'm staying with him and he complained to me that he's gained weight since I've been in his apartment.
Thanks!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Fingers crossed you get to go back soon.
