Random Saturday In Queens In Huji

A couple of weeks ago Christina texted our big group chat that we should all go out to Queens to eat at an authentic Chinese restaurant that was recommended to her. So me being me, I decided that we needed to make a day out of it. And we did... So this past Saturday myself, Justin, Gino and Christina headed in to Queens for a day full of random activities.

We started off our adventure by having lunch and a couple of drinks at Astoria Bier and Cheese (We were at their Broadway location), this awesome little spot that Justin found on Yelp right before we left.

Once we were done eating and drinking and buying various beers and snacks at Astoria Bier and Cheese, we walked over to the Museum of the Moving Image which was only a block away.

While we were there we played the video games in the A Whole Different Ball Game: Playing Through 60 Years of Sports Video Games Exhibition, we spent a long time walking through the Jim Henson Exhibition (Which I absolutely loved because I adore Jim Henson) and we checked out the Behind the Screen Exhibition which had some awesome props, models and prosthetics from movies like The Mask (1994), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), The Wiz (1978), The Godfather (1972), etc.

When we were done at the museum (Which I highly recommend you visit if you have a chance) we walked back to the car and drove over to Socrates Sculpture Park to see what sculptures they had on display. Unfortunately they were in the middle of changing out the sculptures (Perfect lesson on checking the website and not just Yelp), so there wasn't anything to see but a lovely view -- Which was cool with us because it was beautiful out.

After a nice little walk around the sculpture-less sculpture park we headed over to Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao for the main event. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming to all of us (I thought it was just me at first because I don't really eat meat but over the past couple of days everyone has expressed their meh-ness about dinner) but it was fine because the company was good.

When we were done with our lackluster dinner we drove back to Long Island. Gino, Justin and I hung out a bit more after we got back and Christina went home because she was tired.

Despite a lack of sculptures at the sculpture park and just okay Chinese food, we had a great day and I look forward to our next random adventure.
