My Mini Florida Vacation...
So, I didn't tell you guys but I was in Florida for few days this past week. My father is on the verge of retiring and he decided that he wanted to look for a house in southern Florida. So all four of us headed down to the sunshine state to look at some neighborhoods in the Miami-Dade County area and the Keys.
Since they aren't officially house hunting yet we weren't looking at actual properties, just kinda casually driving around and seeing what my parents liked and didn't like about areas. So this left us some time to do other things like hang out with relatives from both sides of the family and eat lots of yummy food.
So yeah, nothing terribly exciting happened. We just kinda hung out in various locations (Aventura, Taverneir Key, Key West, etc.) and soaked up some sun while Long Island was being hit by snowstorm Janus -- My sister and I are mean and kept sending Snapchats to our friends about the beautiful weather.

Now that I'm back I'm missing the warm weather. But that's life...

Miami
(via: Miami Archives)
Throughout the course of my twenty-seven years I've gone on many a
family vacation, but none stick out more than our trips to Miami. Not
one vacation stands out more than another, but there is something about
being in Miami with my family that is very special to me. I don't know
if it's because I'm Cuban or not, or because it is a place I've been
going to since I was a baby but I just love Miami. Our trips to Miami have evolved throughout my childhood from staying in little motels on the beach off of Biscayne Boulevard to spending time at my Tia & Tio's condo in Aventura.Where we end up staying has changed over the years but not the things we would and still do when we take the trip down. For as long as I can remember every vacation to Miami has involved going to the beach at Crandon Park (Which is the only time in my life that my mother would go swimming with us. We live by the beach here on Long Island and she has refused our whole lives to go swimming with us at the beach because she claims it is too cold), taking a drive out to Hialeah to get pasteles (Puffy, flaky pastries filled with a variety of different fillings, like tropical fruits, cream cheese, meats, etc) from Baby Bakery, visiting various family members, getting breakfast at Wolfie's with my Abuela, going to Bayside Mall at night to listen to live bands as we shopped, eating lots of Cuban food from different restaurants on Calle Ocho (Our favorite place to eat it Bahamas Fish Market) and hanging out in South Beach.
To this day I look forward to our vacations there. I was actually there last summer without my parents and sister and it honestly wasn't the same. I mean I had a nice time with my Tia, Tio, cousin and her kids but it wasn't like being their with my sister and parents.
I honestly cannot wait for the day when I have my own children and I take them down to Miami to visit my parents (My father has decided that when he retires in a few years that he and my mother are moving down there). I hope that I'll be able to provide them with memories of Miami like my parents have given to me and that they too feel like Miami is there second home.

Two Year Blogiversary...
Two years ago today I started Adventures of a Misfit Librarian and I just wanted to thank all of you who have followed me on all of my misadventures via my blog, Twitter or what have you.
Since my last blogiversary I've ghost hunter in Gettysburg, partied like a rockstar in Las Vegas, grown out my hair, visited the Mecca of libraries, dealt with more than one death, dyed my hair numerous colors, drank my fair share of booze, witnessed stupidity at its finest, took a road trip from Miami to Long Island, rekindled old friendships and as always, caused a bit of chaos in my library.
I hope this next year is full of even more of the above, as well as new adventures. And like I said last blogiversary, as long as I am living my life and having adventures I’ll continue blogging and I hope that you all will continue to follow my journey through life.
Thank you for supporting another year of my chaos!

365 Days Of Pictures: Day 134...
My Tia got pissed at everyone in the apartment leaving crap on her table so she left us all this note. I thought it would be amusing to put my new Lego® man, Raúl the gay Mexican janitor, on her note and take a picture.

Miami: Day Four...
Today my Tia went nuts because the apartment was filthy -- This was mainly due to the fact that she had men working in her kitchen putting in a granite backsplash, but we got the brunt of her wrath. Because she was acting like a lunatic and the boys were being pains, my cousin and I ran away to have Cuban food for lunch. It was good, not the best I've ever had but it hit the spot.
Eventually we headed back to the condo and my Tia was on an even bigger tear, so we got the boys and headed to pool for a few hours. While at the pool I introduced my cousin to the humor of Katt Williams, the boys got yelled at by a little old man in Spanish for playing with their water guns (They had no idea why he was actually yelling because they don't speak Spanish, but seeing as it happened every time they used their guns that is why we thought he was getting mad) , a palm frawn fell off the tree closest to our table (This was funny because before we headed down to the pool my Tio told me to not sit near the palm trees because the frawns fall off and can kill you), etc.
When there was no more sun by the pool we headed up to the apartment and had dinner. The kids continued to be pains, so my cousin and I left to find frozen yogurt/ice cream. We got it and then we hid in a parking lot eating our dessert and avoiding the apartment.
Now that we're back my cousin's kids have forced her to play Risk: Halo Wars and they are arguing. I feel bad for her, but there is no way in hell I'm gonna play with them -- I've decided to blog and watch Man vs Food Nation.

Miami: Day Three...
Today is my cousin's youngest son's 10th birthday. So we spent it running around from store to store while he tried to figure out how to spend his birthday money -- He ended up buying a Flip™ Video camera thingy, why I don't know but he seems to enjoy video taping everything.
Later on in the day we all went out to the Cheesecake Factory for his birthday dinner. It was yummy, but I had to go to the gym when we got back to the condo because of all of the extra calories I consumed throughout the course of the meal. That was my day.

Miami: Day Two...
Day two was spent sleeping in and shopping. It wasn't a very exciting day, but I enjoyed it -- With the exception of the fighting children, my cousin's kids are great when you deal with them one on one but are totally evil when they are together.

Miami: Day One...
I woke up super early this morning (Or should I say I didn't really go to sleep) so that I could be at the airport by 4:00am for my 6:00am flight to Fort Lauderdale.
The flight went by relatively quickly because I spent the majority of my time drawing a picture of myself on the plane (When I get home I'll scan it and post it because my Tia doesn't have a scanner to my knowledge). The unfortunate thing is that I did end up sitting next to an extra annoying woman who kept shifting in her seat the whole flight though -- I wanted to smack her.
When I arrived in Fort Lauderdale my cousin picked me up at the airport and drove me to her parent's condo in Miami. I brought my suitcase and such up, then we spent the rest of the day out by the pool. It was the perfect first day.

Dinner Crowd...
After work today (Which was uneventful) Justin and I met up to go out to dinner at the restaurant that Phil is currently working at because today is his birthday -- Phil, not Justin. I rolled up with a gift bag full of goodies for him (Booze and such) and unknowingly informed his coworkers that it was his birthday -- He apparently didn't tell them for whatever reason.
Anyways... Justin and I had dinner, talked with Phil, had a few drinks, etc. I hadn't seen Phil in almost two weeks so it was good to see him, but it sucked because he had to work on his birthday and we had to have him serve us for us to really get to see him. Hopefully I'll get to hang out with him after my trip to Miami.
