Remember Me? | Chaotic Mini Life Update...

Hey, remember me? Sorry I haven't been around much, my life has just been an utter ball of chaos between prepping to go to Las Vegas, actually going to Las Vegas, getting sick from all of the smoking going on in the casinos, Justin being sick, dealing with a coworker who has cancer, work being under staffed, getting a bunch of parking tickets and fighting those, Justin's grandmother being in the hospital, etc. Total life cluster fuck.

So I thought that I'd hop on here and just do a little photo recap of the sprinkle of good things that happened this month among the chaos.
So yeah, hopefully the chaos will begin to subside soon so I can go back to my normal-ish life. I'm leaving for Spain with Justin a month from today, so I'm viewing that as the light at the end of this cluster fuck tunnel.

I hope you've all had a better month of May than I've had! If you have, I'd love to hear about any wonderful things that have happened to you guys this month. If you haven't had a great month like me, let me know. We can bitch about May together.

Gossip Folks...

So my wedding is two weeks from Saturday and up until recently I haven't had to deal with much gossip and/or people running their mouths about stuff they don't know about in terms of my wedding at the library. But for some reason as of the last week I've had people come up to me questioning my guest list, people who I don't even care for texting other people asking about my wedding and I also found out that "Julia" was questioning "Emily" as to if she is attending or not. So as you can all guess, I'm super annoyed.

But I think the person who came up to me and questioned my guest list pissed me off the most. The individual in question started asking me if I invited the library director and my department head, and acted like I was hiding something from them. Like I secretly invited everyone but them and a handful of others, which is far from the truth. I have a total of thirty-five people attending my wedding and only one person coming to the actual ceremony has ever worked with me and that is "Favorite Page #1" -- I did invite "Favorite Page #2" and "Favorite Page #3" out barhopping along with Lenni and one other person. All of my other guests are family members and friends.

I just don't understand why anyone would think I was lying about who I invited to my wedding. Especially since I've said more than once that I wish that I was having a bigger wedding so I could invite everyone -- Not necessarily they person who was asking these questions though. So being grilled annoyed me beyond belief.

It's crap like this that made me take off the whole week before my wedding and decide to not come in the three work days between my wedding and honeymoon. I knew that these people would eventually start to frustrate the shit out of me and I'm glad I went with my gut.

Sorry for the rant.

Have You Pet Anderson Cooper Today?...

So, I went to my second television show taping this week today. I went into the city with a few of my friends to see Anderson Live.

We had to wake up super early to do so because we were given the opportunity to go to an advance screening of a new movie before the actual taping of the show (Which turned out to be a show and a half).

While we were at the taping people who work for the show were asking if anyone had brought anything for Anderson or if they had something to ask/tell him and well I was sent there with a mission a la "Leslie" so I raised my hand. I told them that I have a 60-year-old coworker/friend who is an agoraphobic lesbian who asked me, if I could, to pet Anderson. They got a kick out of this and actually told Anderson, who asked me about it on camera and let me touch his hair and he hugged me. So yup, I got to pet and hug Anderson Cooper. Lets see if it ends up on tv.

After the taping was done we all hopped in the car and drove back to Long Island as quickly as we could because I had to go to work. When I got into work "Leslie" (Whom I had texted earlier) had mentioned to a bunch of people in the library that I might have gotten to touch Anderson, so I had a lot of questions and people squealing about it.

So out of all of the tapings I've been to this year Anderson Live was hands down my favorite and I'd totally request tickets to see him tape again. If you have a chance to go, I'd totally recommend it.

Ice Cream Tasting Party...

Seeing as July is National Ice Cream Month and July 15th is National Ice Cream Day, we decided to have an ice cream tasting program. We bought four different brands of various (Edy's, Breyer's, Krasdale and Häagen-Dazs) and two different brands of root beer (A&W and Doctor Brown's), so that we could do an ice cream taste test and then a root beer float taste test.

I labeled four cups with the letters A, B, C & D and another two with 1 & 2. My Pages and volunteers gave everyone scoops of each brand of ice cream and I asked each child to try each of the flavors in order and take a sip of water in between each tasting. At the end I asked each what was there favorite and tallied it on the dry erase board. To my surprise, Krasdale won.

After the ice cream tasting I gave each kid a scoop of their favorite flavor in the cups labeled 1 & 2 and filled them with the two types of root beer. They tried them and by a landslide Dr. Brown's  won.

When all of the "testing" was done I told the kids they could have more ice cream and they all jumped at the chance to eat what was left of the cartons. It was a lot of fun and way more successful than my last ice cream day party two years ago where I had them make their own ice cream in plastic baggies. When I did that one they made a totally mess and I got in so much trouble with the custodians, they still talk about it to this day and give me dirty looks.
