Record Store Day...

I'm so sad. Today is Record Store Day and instead of being able to wander around my favorite record shop I'm stuck at the library working.  It sucks because by the time I get off nothing cool is going to be happening. I always have to work when fun stuffing going on.

Anyways, for any of you interested here is some information on Record Store Day...

The original idea for Record Store Day was conceived by Chris Brown, and was founded in 2007 by Eric Levin, Michael Kurtz, Carrie Colliton, Amy Dorfman, Don Van Cleave and Brian Poehner as a celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally.

This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists in the United States and in various countries across the globe make special appearances and performances. Festivities include performances, cook-outs, body painting, meet & greets with artists, parades, djs spinning records and on and on. Metallica officially kicked off Record Store Day at Rasputin Music in San Francisco on April 19, 2008 and Record Store Day is now celebrated the third Saturday every April.

I hope that someone gets to enjoy the events of today!

Any of you guy collect vinyls? If so, how many do you have in your collection? I'm interested in know what other people have.

  1. We have tons of vinyl, but I have no idea how many that is. One entire old wooden orange crate that served as my parent's first coffee table full, that many. Most of it is from when I was in high school, so it's heavy on Duran Duran import 12 singles and the like. I still have some 45's too, although I need to find the little thingie that goes in the middle of them so you can play them. What is that called? The yellow plastic 45 thing?

I found your blog through Send Something Good and I like it!

    1. Jealous! My parents vinyls all got messed up when our basement flooded during a storm a few years ago.

LOL. I don't actually know what the piece is called but I have one because it came with my Crosley.

I'm glad you like my blog! :-D
