Bummed About LuckyFABB Being Postponed...

Next week was supposed to be Lucky Magazine's annual fashion and beauty blogger conference, LuckyFABB (Which those of you that have been following me for a while know that I had the pleasure of attending back in 2013 when they last had it in New York) and this year I was fortunate enough to be invited back again. But with the departure of Lucky's editor-in-chief Eva Chen on Thursday, The Lucky Group decided to postpone the conference a week before it was supposed to happen.

Which I'm not going to lie, has bummed me out so much because this year I decided to splurge and get myself an all-access ticket, I had my outfits all planned out and I was so looking forward to seeing some of the wonderful ladies that I had met at the previous conference like Carla from Fashion Maven... Mommy, etc. But there is nothing I can do about it, so I'm just going to wait and hope that the conference is rescheduled soon and that I will be able to attend whenever that may be because it is honestly an amazing experience attending LuckyFABB.

In the mean time some of the other attendees, as well as brands that were supposed to be at the conference like Yosi Samra (Which is a shoe company that makes the most comfy foldable flats ever. No, they did not give me anything to say that. I own a pair that I bought off of Rue La La forever ago and I love them so much) are trying to coordinate meet ups for those who still would like to do some networking and turn lemons into lemonade. So hopefully those happen and if they do you bet I will be attending.

I'll keep you all up-to-date on my first world problems as they unfold.

BeautyCon NYC

Yesterday I attended BeautyCon NYC and here's how that was...

Since we purchased PRO tickets we were told we could get in an hour early, so my sister and I woke up super early to get ready, catch the train, meet up with her friend and YouTuber Samantha and get to Pier 36 where the event was taking place.

The getting ready to meeting up with Samantha went well, but the actual getting to Pier 36 was a bit of a cluster. The cab driver we ended up with had no idea where he was going and we ended up having to use Google Maps to get the directions ourselves and telling him where to go.

Once we arrived at the actual location it was probably 8:30am and we thought we'd only have to wait thirty minutes on the line -- Oh, we were wrong.

We waited and waited. Niki whom I meet at LuckyFABB last year, happens to be friends with Samantha and she showed up along with her friend Carla, so we were all talking. We waited some more... Liz showed up. And the waiting continued until around 9:30am -- Thirty minutes after we were told PROS & VIPS could go inside -- and then we were shuffled through to another line, that was still outside of the venue, that we had to wait on.

We were all talking and complaining at that point, so I don't remember exactly how long we were waiting on the second line. But eventually we got inside.
Once inside we made the mistake of looking around and not heading to various booths while there weren't huge lines, thus we ended up spending a majority good chunk of our time at BeautyCon waiting on lines to get the "free stuff" we paid PRO price to get. So that sucked.

While on the bareMinerals line (Which took forever and a year to get to the front of) Samantha's friend Bailey showed up, so I had a chance to talk with her as we waited to get color matched with their new bareSKIN Pure Brightening Serum Foundation, which we all got full size of with the Perfecting Face Brush they made to go with it. So that was nice.

But because the lines went on forever we didn't get to attend any of the panels. Which was disappointing because some of my personal favorite YouTube gurus were speaking at them. But from what I heard from people walking around, the main stage area was packed and you couldn't hear anything.

I did thankfully get to meet one of my favorite YouTubers Claire Marshall. I had a chance to speak to her for a hot second, got a hug and took a very unflattering picture with her. I also got to meet P'Trique and take a picture. But I missed out on Kandee Johnson and Marlena of Makeup Geek.

To be honest with you, when we got the tickets we didn't know what exactly to expect but this event was so underwhelming. There were tons of teens/tweens with their parents, which none of us expected. We all thought it would the kind of event you could do a little networking, meet some YouTube gurus, check out some make up and beauty brands, etc.

So that being said, I won't be attending BeautyCon ever again. It was an experience and something to do on a Saturday but I spent way too much money to be so underwhelmed. But despite being disappointed by the event, I am happy I had a chance to meet Samantha, Carla and Bailey.

As you all may or may not know, I absolutely love the following things; makeup, a good conference and YouTube videos. So when I heard that BeautyCon was coming to New York, I had to get a ticket and make my sister, as well as Liz get tickets also -- All three of us got PRO tickets because after LuckyFABB I realized VIP/PRO is for me.

2013 Favorites by Misfit Librarian on Grooveshark

2013 has been an interesting year to say the least. I've had all the wonderful things I've mentioned above happen, as well as some pretty shitty things. But you have to take the good with the bad and here's hoping 2014 is just as good or better than 2013.

Stay safe today and enjoy your New Year's Eve! I'll talk to you in 2014.

100% Confident To Be Awesome...

During one of the brand experiences at Lucky FABB last week Jen from Life Unrefined (Who is amazing) and I got to share with Secret and the World that we are 100% confident to be awesome.
If you'd like to check out all of the other Secret at Lucky FABB pictures you can check them out here.

Kate Spade Wishlist...

After attending Lucky FABB last week I decided that I needed a structured tote bag because the bags I carried around just weren't cutting it (I had borrowed my sister's Michael Kors bags) in terms of fitting stuff inside of them. And in my search I ended up on the Kate Spade site and saw that she had a bunch of library related prints. Obviously because I'm such a library dork and a Kate Spade lover I need them all, thus my Kate Spade wishlist...
  1. Required Reading Bon Shopper - $ 228.00
  2. Library Card Resin iPhone 5 Case - $40.00
  3. Required Reading Index Organizer - $298.00
  4. Library Illustration Scarf  - $128.00
  5. Required Reading Georgie - $78.00
I've already hinted to various individuals (My mother, sister & Justin) that I'd love any of the above items for Christmas this year. So lets hope someone actually listened!

I'm Going To Lucky FABB...

Most of you probably don't know this but I am a member of the Lucky Community and because of that I got an exciting e-mail the other day about being invited to apply to attend Lucky's Fashion and Beauty Blog Conference (FABB) this October in New York City.

As you can guess the minute I saw the e-mail I started clicking on links and filling out my information in hopes that I'd get accepted to attend.

Fast forward a few days and I get another e-mail saying that my application had been approved and that I was officially invited to attend FABB. I freak out a bit, do a happy dance and start clicking on those links to get my tickets.

So I'm excited to say that this librarian will be attending both days of Lucky FABB in October and I am beyond psyched for the opportunity to be part of such an amazing event.

As the event gets closer and closer I'm sure I will be inundating all of you with various posts about getting ready to attend, shopping, etc.

So, are any of you lovelies going to be attending FABB also? If you are I'd totally be interesting in meeting up! As always, lemme know!
