February Photo-A-Day Challenge...

I found this over at Mandy aka Miss Indie's blog (It is orginally from Fat Mum Slim's blog), as well as Mandi aka Life In Beta's blog (So many!!) and I thought it would be a fun way to help me reach the end of the 365 Day Photo Challange I'm doing as part of my yearly "No Regrets" list -- Yeah, I realize that that was a lot... Sorry.

For those of you who are newer followers, every year I do a "No Regrets" list (The title is based off the book No Regrets: 101 Fabulous Things to Do Before You're Too Old, Married, or Pregnant by Sarah Ivens) in which I come up with a number of things (Based on my age. The most recent list is 26 things) I have to do by my next birthday, which is March 4th. Since March is rapidly approaching I've got to get moving and I thought this February photo-a-day challenge would be good for me, plus I like to share with all of you!
How to take part in February photo-a-day:
1. Using the list as inspiration, take a photo each day.
2. Share it on Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #FEBphotoaday. You can also share on your blog or on Facebook ... or even keep the photos privately for yourself.
3. Check out other people's photos and like them or comment on them.

NOTE: I won't be noting in the entry title anything about this only because I'm using it for my 365 day challenge, but I will write something underneath the photo about it. Plus I have OCD when it comes to tagging posts.

Beginning Of A Bucket List...

Honestly I didn't really do much today at work. I did whatever random tasks my Department Head asked me to do yesterday and then I was pretty much free for the rest of the day because it was super slow. So, I ended up working on a handwritten bucket list thanks to Lenni and her bucket list that my Department Head and I were looking at yesterday. Yeah, I know what you're thinking... You're thinking that I already have my "No Regrets" list do 26th things by my 27th birthday blah blah blah, but this one is kinda different. This list consists of things that I know are gonna take me more than a year to do and that I'd like to do before I kick it one day. I'm not going to type everything out that I wrote, I will give you a sampling of what is on it though. Plus you all know that if I just so happen to get something on the list done that I'll be posting about it anyways.

A Sampling Of My Ultimate Bucket List
  • Own a coffee shop This is actually mine and Phil's dream
  • Witness the running of the bulls
  • Ride a camel
  • Visit the wreckage of the Titanic aboard a submarine
  • Attend a Native American sweat lodge ceremony
  • Find my doppelganger

"No Regrets" List Book Search...

I was thinking about how I haven't really had a chance to get a lot of things on my current "No Regrets" list done, so I went searching online for lists of great works of literature in hopes that I could get number twenty-two (#22 Indulge in a Great Work of Literature) out of the way.

I found the following list here and asked my Department Heads which out of the books that I haven't read should I read. Buzzed In A Corn Maze...

About a month ago a bunch of my friends and I decided that we'd head out towards Wading River to do various things out there and today was the day. Around 11:00am this morning we all met up at one of our houses and headed out in two cars towards Sound Avenue.

The first stop we made was at Lewin Farms, but we decided that we weren't fond of their corn maze or pumpkins, so we decided to move on. While we were driving we noticed Palmer Vineyard (Which was one of the vineyards that I had looked into going to because they had wine tasting without appointments), so we decided to go there.

We stopped at Palmer Vineyard and did a little wine tasting. I tried their Rose of Merlot, White Riesling, Sparkling Brut and Sunrise/Sunset Merlot and I did not like any of them*. None of the other five people I was with cared for the wines that they tasted while they were there either, so I guess it wasn't just me. We hung outside by the grapes for a bit and then we decided to move on.

After tasting the not so great wine at Palmer Vineyard we headed down Sound Avenue to Harbes Family Farm where we ended up drinking even more wine, eating roasted corn and going through the corn maze. Obviously I ran away from everyone and decided to make it through the maze by myself while I was a little tipsy. I got through but Justin and one of our other friends made it through first.

Once the boys were don't making obscene gestures with some type of squash they found in the pumpkin patch we headed over to The Lobster Roll Restaurant (Northside) for a late lunch. We had a variety of seafood dishes -- Lobster rolls, buffalo calamari, fried puffer fish, etc. While we were there the boys decided to play "Would You Rather..." and it ended up being kinda gross. When we were done eating we did a quick walk by of the shops behind the restaurant and then we headed over to Briermere Farms to get pies and such. The lines at Briermere Farms were crazy. I had never seen them that long and I've been going there for years. Thankfully when Justin and I got to the front of the line to place our order there were still raspberry cream pies left (Those are our favorite thing to get from the place).

Briermere Farms was our last stop of the day out east. We dropped our friends off and went back to the apartment to clean up because everyone decided that they wanted to come over and play video games that evening. Eventually the boys came back and we spent the night playing various games and going out for ice cream. While we were out going ice cream my friend and I both ordered banana splits and we both received them without bananas which wasn't cool -- The lady at the ice cream place handed us each an unpeeled banana eventually without knives to cut them with. When we were done with our ice cream we went back to play more video games and eventually everyone left.

It was a good day. I had a really nice time out with all of my friends (Minus Erin who was really pissed she couldn't come because it was like a triple date thing going on).

One of the highlights of the day was that by going to Palmer Vineyard I got one of the items on my "No Regrets" List done. I've been doing really poorly on my list this time around, so I was excited to get something on it done.

* = I am in no way, shape or form a wine connoisseur, nor am I classy so you can't take my choice in wine seriously. I like Barefoot Moscato the best because it is sweet and I also knocked back the wine like I was taking shots after the first couple of sips.

T.G.I.F...

I had another one of those nights last night. Obviously I'm not making this post at 2:00pm so I'm way better off than I was last weekend, but even though I didn't stay out all night last night or close the bar down I still had a good time.

Erin and I decided that since I was free again last night that we should go out to our favorite bar with a few of our girlfriends and hang out. Erin's friend "Jackie" (Who is now my friend because she likes me so much she invited me along with Erin to her 30th birthday wine tasting party in November -- Yay! I'll be able to tick go wine tasting off of my "No Regrets" List!) was there, she is dating/banging the bartender, and we had yet another interesting and free booze filled evening.

Randomness Of The Night:
  • Some guy just jumped into our game of 31 without telling us his name and just informing us that his swagger was too much for any of us to handle.
  • The dude that I'm not sure if he is gay or not that I went to high school with (I saw him in Fire Island on Cherry Grove a few summers back and I assumed he was flaming, because he seems it but he claims to have a girlfriend. Not sure whats going on...) sat down at the table I was sitting at while playing 31 and said "A.C. Slater is in the house bitches..." Then he jumped out of the seat, gave me a kiss on the cheek and lifted up his shirt to show me his abs when I asked where his pimp cup was and he ran out of the bar.
  • I was told by one of my friends that she and Erin are happy I'm not the "skinny one" because I'm really pretty and if I was the "skinny one" no guys would talk to them.
  • "Jackie" and I almost got into a fight with some bitches because they wouldn't stop running their mouths.
  • While Erin was trying to dump the drink "Jackie's" boyfriend gave her down the drain so she didn't have to drink it (She wanted to get rid of it so we could go home) she was given an earful by a drunk woman about DWIs, fines and being arrested because this hot mess of a woman has a criminal record because of alcohol.
  • My sister's best friend's sister (Who is also good friends with her) was trying to get me to help her find perfume because she lost her ID and wanted to get into another bar by spraying her other friend's bar stamp with it and trying to transfer some of it onto her wrist.
  • My sister's other friend introduced me to her "Agent" who is going to make her famous.

Interesting Thing On Pinterest...

While I was on Pinterest earlier I found this graphic for a 30 day photography challenge and in its description box the person had written that it would be something awesome to start on World Photography Day which just so happens to be tomorrow -- I had no clue about World Photography Day up until now. And seeing as I love me a 30 day challenge and taking photos I thought that I'd jump on the bandwagon and start this challenge on World Photography Day also -- I actually signed up on the World Photography Day website to post pictures that I take throughout the course of the day. So I'll be incorporating this new challenge in with my 365 day one that I'm doing for my "No Regrets" list.

It's actually really very interesting to me that I found out that tomorrow is World Photography Day because I was reading The Dainty Squid the other day and the chick that runs the blog, Kaylah, had done a photo an hour post (Which you can find here) and I was thinking about doing my own tomorrow. I guess the stars have aligned for my whole photography venture tomorrow. So I'll be posting details about World Photography Day, as well as a bunch of photos tomorrow.

Weekend Getaway...

This past weekend I went on a little road trip with my mother and my sister to Gettysburg, PA. We left early Saturday morning and drove from Long Island to Gettysburg -- It took longer than it should have because we got stuck in traffic for an hour and a half in New Jersey.

As soon as we got in we had to rush to get to our Segway tour appointment -- We booked a guided tour of the West Battlefield through SegTours.com. When we got to the place we had to be trained on how to use the Segways before we could go on our tour. After about thirty minutes of practice we set out. We spent two and a half hours riding around to various spots in Gettysburg and learning about what happened during those three days in July.

Once the tour was over we headed over to our hotel to bring our stuff up to our room and then we had a quick dinner before heading into town. We wandered around East Cemetery Hill for awhile and other various places before heading over to the Jennie Wade House for a haunted tour.

While on the tour my mother and I did not experience anything paranormal, but my sister claims to have. She said that from the minute she walked into the house she had a headache, which she said didn't go away until we left the grounds -- Apparently the house is haunted by several children that once lived in the orphanage across the street and one of them is fond of women with long curly hair (which my sister has plenty of) and they sometimes fuss around with the women's hair. I may not have had any experiences, but hopefully the legend that if you stick your ring finger through the bullet hole in the door that killed Jennie Wade you'll be married and/or engaged within a year is true because I molested the hell out of that hole with my finger. If it isn't I still have some neat pictures to show from it. After the tour was done it was after midnight so we went back to the hotel to go to bed.

The next morning we woke up early to go to the Soldiers National Museum, Evergreen Cemetery and the Gettysburg National Cemetery -- They were all really interesting places to visit. Once we were done with all of that we decided to drive to Hershey, PA to stop at Hershey's Chocolate World before going back home. While there we made our own candy bars, took the free tour, got free samples and bought lots of candy from the store.

Overall I had a great weekend with my mother and my sister, plus I got to check one of the items from my "No Regrets List" off.

Twenty-Five Things By March 3rd, 2011...

Today is the day and I have accomplished another three items on my list. I got a tattoo*, I've taken up a hobby (I started messing around with painting with watercolors) and I've been reading about Taoism/Daoism. So thats numbers four, seven and twenty-two.

I didn't get everything on my list done, but I also started the list June 1st, 2010 so I didn't even have a whole year to work on the list. Nine things in in nine months is pretty good I think. Whatever I didn't finish will be on my next list.

  1. Get Thrown Out of a Nightclub (#6)
  2. People Watch in Paris (#52)
  3. Drink Only Water for a Month
  4. Take Up a Hobby – Just for You, Just for Fun (#86)

Salsa Lessons...

I got another thing on my list done tonight. Erin, my sister and I went to this hotel that was offering salsa lessons and tapas -- So number six is crossed out. It was actually a lot of fun and I can't wait to do it again. The people were nice and the food was delicious, this might become my new hobby.
