I'm Glad There Was No Social Media 10+ Years Ago...

Last night Chas sent me a direct Instagram video of her first cellphone with a text message I sent her over ten years ago and it got me thinking about how I'm so glad social media wasn't around when we were in high school.
I mean don't get me wrong, the stuff I said in the text message (Which there is more to but it has my name one it, thus I didn't post the entire video on this bad boy) I'd totally still say today -- Actually when I told Justin about it he said "Proof you haven't changed much since high school..." But I probably wouldn't have hidden my real name, etc.

I can't imagine having the things sixteen year old Misfit said around for the world to see more than a decade later. Granted I have a potty mouth on Twitter now but there are still things that I don't put up there (e.g. - Justin and I have had some funny fucked up conversations that I have wanted to tweet about but I know better than to do that). Plus all of the things I say on my Twitter now I have the balls to say out loud.

So, what do you guys think? Are you glad Twitter, etc. weren't around when you were in high school?

  1. I was always kind of a goodie two shoes, so if Twitter had been around when I was in high school, my feed would have been very boring.

  2. I am glad Social Media and Technology wasn't like it is now when I was in high school. I feel like I was growing up right on the cusp of all that. I mean yes we had a computer in my home but we were mostly excited to play Oregon Trail. I look at kids 10 to 15 years younger than me and it makes me sad. To them everything is about cell phones, twitter, Yolo and such. They don't seem enjoy real life. What ever happened to Being outside, hanging out with friend without everyone being on their phone texting, or reading a book. I am so thankful I grew up with out that. Yes it comes in handy when I need talk to family a million miles away but I also enjoy life away from the computer or my phone.
