Mini Rant: Driving Around The Airport...

Apparently a couple of months back I promised Justin that I'd pick him up from the airport last night and honestly I completely forgot until he texted me midday yesterday -- Yes, I am a terrible girlfriend.

So, I had to make the trek over to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in the dark and drive through that maze to get to the terminal. Can we just talk about how ass backwards the layout of JFK is? I swear it frustrates the hell out of me every time I have to drive through that place. It's this meandering jumble of roads, signs, etc. -- I'm clenching my jaw just thinking about it. I really really really hate driving through there and I don't know why people ask me to pick them up because I just end up so frustrated by the time I get to them. Ugh!
Have any of you ever driven through JFK before? Is it not the most frustrating place ever when you have to pick someone up or is it just me? Like I'm okay with the place when I'm the person being dropped off and/or picked up, but not when I'm bringing/picking up someone else.

NOTE: This would have been a longer rant with lots of expletives if I would have written it after I had actually driven through the airport.

  1. I've never driven through the JFK airport, but the Minneapolis Airport is horrible as well. I hate driving there. Not only do they have 80 million different one ways and round abouts, but we have 2 terminals in different locations. It seems the parking at the one I always need to pick up/drop off people at is full, so you have to park a million miles away and take the train to the terminal you need. Such a pain in the butt!

    1. I'm sorry you have an evil airport too! I don't understand why airport layouts are so messed up.

When you are picking up/dropping off at JFK there is nowhere to park, so if you get there too early you end up having to drive in this ridiculous circles.

  2. We've driven JFK once to drop off a rental car. I couldn't believe how much traffic there was at 10 PM! We are very lucky to have the Long Beach airport nearby - it is a small airport that mainly handles Jet Blue flights so driving and everything else is pretty easy.

    1. Oh yeah, there is always traffic there it's ridic.

I wish we had another option like that, I mean there is MacArthur on Long Island but the only airlines there are South West and US Airways and I'm a JetBlue girl.

  3. I haven't had the pleasure, but I trust you when you say that it's awful. Most airports are, it seems.

    1. True. But the layout of JFK that makes it extra horrible.

  4. Oh my gosh, YES! I loathe JFK. It's like they went out of their way to make it as complicated and rage-inducing as possible. Throw in a bunch of crazy cabbies and it's a recipe for fail. I feel for you :(

    1. How's Texas? I'm so sad whenever I go to the branch and you're not there.

    2. Aw, I miss you and my branch :(

Texas is awesome though! I really do love it here (and, hopefully not rubbing salt in the wound, but the Austin airport is amazing. Live music, great food, everything's easy to find, employees are all friendly, super fast, and it's practically empty compared to JFK).
