RE: Help Me Pick Out A Dress...

Thank you to all of you that gave me your input on which dress I should pick and wear to my friend's wedding next month! Basically everyone picked the same dress, the Ashley Dress from eShakti.
I absolutely adore this dress, but I showed it to Erin and she told me I couldn't wear it because it has white in it. What do you guys think? I love love love the dress but Erin basically told me I would be a douche if I wore it to a wedding. Is she right? Is she wrong? Lemme know!

  1. It's not solid white, so I don't see the problem. I might add a cardigan or wide belt in a bright color.

    1. That's what I said I'd do to her and she still told me that I shouldn't wear it.

I told her I was thinking about pairing it with a yellow cardigan or shrug and she said "White is for the bride..."

  2. That's so MEAN of her! If she's saying that, she knows nothing about bridal style. In Colombia, for instance, there are weddings where the theme is all-white--meaning *everyone* has to wear white. Now I happen to consider that semi tacky, BUT my point is that it's totally appropriate.

I don't wanna bad-mouth her since I don't know her, so if you don't want to make her mad, then go ahead and change it to make her happy. I *will* say, however, that I recently saw pics of another wedding where a friend of mine wore a BW dress that was black on top/the torso, and had a white bottom. (You know those skirts that have longer "skirts" over them? I'll email you a pic.) I LOVED that dress and I thought it was GORGEOUS and completely appropriate.

Honestly, as a guest, you have the right to wear whatever you please, dear. If she doesn't want you to wear white, then obviously don't. But this dress, like the previous commenter said, is *not* just white. So she's being unreasonable. Just pair it w/other bright accessories :)!

    1. In her defense I did express that I felt a little odd wearing the white even though it had a print on it and asked her what she thought.

For some reason when it comes to wearing things for people's weddings I always have trouble trying to figure out what it appropriate in terms of that person because I have totally different/higher standards than most.

I'm actually still torn on the whole thing, but I still have a week or two to pick something out.

  3. I love this dress! I think you can wear it, I agree since it is not all white. It is totally acceptable for a wedding! I don't know, when I got married, I didn't care what people wore to my wedding! I hope you get to wear it.

    1. I think I'm gonna talk to the bride and see what she has to say.

  4. Black is for funerals, white is for the bride, and paisley flower prints are overdone! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
