Heading To Ocean City...

Spending a much needed long weekend in Ocean City, MD with my girls. I'll be back Monday night and hopefully I'll have a vlog for all of you to watch sometime during the week -- That's if this trip isn't a total shit show.

A Million Ways To Die In The West...

Tuesday night I had the opportunity to see an advance screening of A Million Ways To Die In The West (2014).
Seth MacFarlane directs, produces, co-writes and plays the role of the cowardly sheep farmer Albert in A Million Ways to Die in the West.  After Albert backs out of a gunfight, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man.  When a mysterious and beautiful woman rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love.  But when her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test.

Starring alongside MacFarlane are Oscar® winner Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Neil Patrick Harris, Sarah Silverman and Liam Nesson. MacFarlane reunites many of the filmmakers behind Universal and MRC's hit film Ted including Scott Stuber (Bluegrass Films) and Jason Clark who produce, and Wellesley Wild and Alec Sulkin who co-wrote the script.

Genre: Comedy/Western
Cast:  Seth MacFarlane, Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson, Giovanni Ribisi, Neil Patrick Harris, Sarah Silverman, Christopher Hagen, Wes Studi, Matt Clark, Evan Jones, Aaron McPherson & Rex Linn
Directed by: Seth MacFarlane

Release Date: May 30th 2014

For this particular screening I brought Justin along with me because he actually wanted to come -- In the past I've asked him if hes wanted to attend all of the other screenings I've been to and he has said no every time, but he told me when he found out about this one that he was coming with me. So, the two of us left work early and made the trek into New York City to attend the screening.

When we got to the theater it was almost packed thirty minutes before the movie was scheduled to start, but we thankfully found a pair of seats next to each other in a decent row (No one wants to sit directly in front of the screen).

So for the thirty minutes before I talked to Justin and listened to the people around me make comments as to how they thought the movie would be -- It seemed that basically everyone near me had a positive attitude going into the film.

Fast forward... The film starts and people are cracking up from the get go (The smelly man next to me was laughing extra loud at all of the scenes, even to lines that I guess went over everyone else's heads). And basically the laughter continued throughout the whole 116 minutes the film ran.

But to get to the point of this whole review, I really enjoyed the film and so did Justin. We both thought it was a smart, funny and entertaining movie. So, it gets big thumbs up from us.

That all being said, I must note that I am a fan of Seth MacFarlane's work. I love Family Guy (1999-Present) and I really enjoyed Ted (2012), so if you don't enjoy him and his body of work I don't know if A Million Ways To Die In The West will be your cup of tea. But if you're open to anything and looking for a good laugh I'd very much so recommend seeing A Million Ways To Die In The West.

Lemme know if you are planning on going see it or if you already have! I'd love to know what you thought of it.

Caleb Smith State Park Preserve...

Yesterday Justin and I had a picnic and wandered around Caleb Smith State Park Preserve in Smithtown, and here are some of the pictures I took during our little outing...

It was a beautiful day to be at the park. I just wish I would have worn sneakers so we really could have gone for a nice long walk. We'll just have to go back another time.

BeautyCon NYC

Yesterday I attended BeautyCon NYC and here's how that was...

Since we purchased PRO tickets we were told we could get in an hour early, so my sister and I woke up super early to get ready, catch the train, meet up with her friend and YouTuber Samantha and get to Pier 36 where the event was taking place.

The getting ready to meeting up with Samantha went well, but the actual getting to Pier 36 was a bit of a cluster. The cab driver we ended up with had no idea where he was going and we ended up having to use Google Maps to get the directions ourselves and telling him where to go.

Once we arrived at the actual location it was probably 8:30am and we thought we'd only have to wait thirty minutes on the line -- Oh, we were wrong.

We waited and waited. Niki whom I meet at LuckyFABB last year, happens to be friends with Samantha and she showed up along with her friend Carla, so we were all talking. We waited some more... Liz showed up. And the waiting continued until around 9:30am -- Thirty minutes after we were told PROS & VIPS could go inside -- and then we were shuffled through to another line, that was still outside of the venue, that we had to wait on.

We were all talking and complaining at that point, so I don't remember exactly how long we were waiting on the second line. But eventually we got inside.
Once inside we made the mistake of looking around and not heading to various booths while there weren't huge lines, thus we ended up spending a majority good chunk of our time at BeautyCon waiting on lines to get the "free stuff" we paid PRO price to get. So that sucked.

While on the bareMinerals line (Which took forever and a year to get to the front of) Samantha's friend Bailey showed up, so I had a chance to talk with her as we waited to get color matched with their new bareSKIN Pure Brightening Serum Foundation, which we all got full size of with the Perfecting Face Brush they made to go with it. So that was nice.

But because the lines went on forever we didn't get to attend any of the panels. Which was disappointing because some of my personal favorite YouTube gurus were speaking at them. But from what I heard from people walking around, the main stage area was packed and you couldn't hear anything.

I did thankfully get to meet one of my favorite YouTubers Claire Marshall. I had a chance to speak to her for a hot second, got a hug and took a very unflattering picture with her. I also got to meet P'Trique and take a picture. But I missed out on Kandee Johnson and Marlena of Makeup Geek.

To be honest with you, when we got the tickets we didn't know what exactly to expect but this event was so underwhelming. There were tons of teens/tweens with their parents, which none of us expected. We all thought it would the kind of event you could do a little networking, meet some YouTube gurus, check out some make up and beauty brands, etc.

So that being said, I won't be attending BeautyCon ever again. It was an experience and something to do on a Saturday but I spent way too much money to be so underwhelmed. But despite being disappointed by the event, I am happy I had a chance to meet Samantha, Carla and Bailey.

Four years ago today I decide to start blogging about all of the randomness that makes up my life and if you would have told me then that I'd still be doing this four years later and would have gone all of the misadventures I have, I don't know if I would have believed you or not. But what I do know is that I'm so glad I did. I love blogging, I love all of the experiences I've had because of it and I look forward to what the future holds for me.
Thank you all so much for supporting me over the years. I am truly thankful for every one of my readers and every opportunity I've been given. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Wedding Dress Shopping...

This past Sunday I went wedding dress shopping with my mother, sister, Lisa, Erin and Phil. And since I'm determined to spend under $1,000 on a dress I made an appointment at a David's Bridal to start off with and can I tell you, wedding dress shopping is frustrating.

Throughout the course of the appointment I tried on six or seven dresses and I didn't  really care for any of them. I mean, I went into this not really knowing what I wanted. I had seen dresses that I loved online but they weren't on plus size women so I knew that those dresses probably wouldn't look good on me. So when I was at the store I just let the lady helping me pull dresses in my size and price range.
The first two were long heavy dresses and I wasn't feeling them. I'm getting married in Central Park and I plan on going bar hopping with my friends after, so a long heavy dress isn't going to work for me. Plus I looked like the Stay Puffed Marshmallow Man in one of them and I kept making comments about how many Ghostbusters (1984) quotes I thought would come out of Justin's mouth if he saw me in that abomination -- "Choose the form of the Destructor!"

After that realization the lady started pulling tea length dresses for me. And while I enjoyed the cut of them, the dresses just weren't me and I didn't like the way they looked.

So yeah, all of that was kind of defeating.

But I think what pissed me off the most was the fact that people shopping in the store decided they should chime in and tell me what they thought about the dresses I had on. It was the third or four dress I tried on and this group of women, before I even had a chance to look at myself in the dress, told me I looked awesome and should buy that dress. I looked at myself in the mirror, turn to them and say "Um, no... I look like a fucking cupcake..." Then they started mumbling to one another.

After trying on the rest of the dresses the lady pulled for me another group of women asked me if I was getting one of the other dressed I had tried on because I looked so good in it. I just looked at them and said I disagreed with them and hated all of the dresses I had tried on.

Then as Lisa, Erin and my sister were trying on bridesmaids dresses (Two that looked absolutely horrible on them and one that was put in the running) another group of women asked me about one of the dresses.

I don't know why these people thought they could butt in on my wedding dress consultation and tell me what they thought about how I looked. I would never do that to someone because:
  1. I don't know the person
  2. It's none of my business
  3. I don't give a fuck
After the fact my mother told me that it annoyed her that people were chiming in also. Which she didn't say to me while we were dress shopping probably because she knows I'm easy to rile up and I was already getting angry and cursing about various things.

But yeah, the only thing I really got out of my visit to David's Bridal is that I'm probably best off wearing a tea length dress.
Once we were done there we headed over to this big dress shop on Long Island and it was just horrible. Horrible customer service. Horrible dress selection. Horrible everything.

I put on two dresses, actually I didn't fully get into the second dress because it was so bad (The lady who worked there decided she wanted to come help me at that point and tie the dress up for me and my sister was just like "No, take that off and lets go..." The lady was like "It'll look nice once it's tied..." and my sister was like "No! It's fucking ugly") and then I just left the store pissed off.

I was so annoyed after the experience that I actually texted everyone later on to apologize for wasting their time -- They claim I didn't, but I felt like I did.

So yeah, the dress hunt continues. I'm actually going to check out a few shops Thursday and Friday with my mother. Hopefully I will find something I like or I'm gonna go to a local seamstress and have them make me a custom wedding dress.

Snippets From My Week...

Here is a little glimpse of the past week of my life via my Instagram...
