As Above So Below...

Last night I had the opportunity to attend the New York press screening of Universal Pictures' newest edition to the found-footage horror genre As Above So Below (2014).
Miles of twisting catacombs lie beneath the streets of Paris, the eternal home to countless souls. When a team of explorers ventures into the uncharted maze of bones, they uncover the secret of what this city of the dead was meant to contain. A journey into madness and terror, As Above, So Below reaches deep into the human psyche to reveal the personal demons that come back to haunt us all.

Written by John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle (Quarantine, Devil) and directed by John Erick Dowdle, the psychological thriller is produced by Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Patrick Aiello and Drew Dowdle. Alex Hedlund serves as the executive producer.

For some reason the extended restricted trailer doesn't want to embed properly, so here is a link to that if any of you are interested in watching it.

Genre: Horror/Psychological thriller
Cast: Perdita Weeks, Ben Feldman, Edwin Hodge
Directed by: John Erick Dowdle

Executive Producer: Alex Hedlund
Rated: R
Release Date: August 29th, 2014
Before I even start I must note that I love horror films like this and so does my cousin Nick who attended the screening with me, so I knew I was going to enjoy As Above So Below (2014) as soon as I saw the first trailer for it months ago.

But that being said, if you've seen the trailer you know that As Above So Below (2014) is a found-footage type movie and honestly this was the only thing that made me hesitant about the film because found-footage can sometime be nauseating because of all of the choppy motions (ex - The 2008 film Cloverfield had my stomach doing flips at certain points) but this one was far from that. I feel like it was well done and those "choppy motions" were used sparingly and when it was appropriate.
Aside from my slight aversion to found-footage films, I enjoyed this movie. The use of Paris' catacombs as the setting was an excellent choice (Even though it could have been used a bit more, but I'm a person who is fascinated by the catacombs so I always want to see more of them) and I enjoyed the whole concept behind the characters trek throughout them. I loved the use of Nicolas Flamel, the Philosopher's stone and alchemy as plot points, etc.

Overall, this was a good film. I enjoyed all 93 minutes of it, as did Nick. If you like other films in this genre you will probably enjoy this one, but if you aren't into these kinds of films As Above So Below (2014) might not be your cup of tea. But hey, to each his own...

As always, lemme know if you go to see the film! And tell me what you thought about it.

Stuck In My Head: Shake It Off...

I kind of hate myself for admitting this, but I have Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" stuck in my head. The damn song is so stupid but so catchy. I guess it's better than Katy Perry's newest offering "This Is How We Do" because that song is super special, the music video even more so -- I'll put it below so you can watch the twerking ice cream cones.

As promised, Katy Perry's newest video...

Am I the only person that feels like they lost some brain cells from watching that?

The Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story....

I just got around to watching the trailer for Lifetime's The Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story that is set to air on Labor Day and I'm kind of intrigued by it. Even though I was young when Saved By The Bell (1989-1993) actually aired I still enjoyed it in syndication after the fact -- And still watch an episode here or there when it's on nowadays. So I think if I'm not dead tired from sitting at the beach all day Monday that I'll give this sucker a try.

Here is the trailer for those of you that haven't seen it...

So, what do you guys think? Are any of you going to tune in? Lemme know!

National Dog Day...

Apparently today is National Dog Day, so I thought I'd use this as an excuse to post some pictures of Nella -- Who for those of you that don't know, is my sister's ex-boyfriend's my sister's family's spoiled three-year-old Hound/Pitbull mixed mutt that we adopted from North Shore Animal League back in October 2011.

I'm not going to lie, before Nella I was not a fan of dogs. But since we've had her I've started to like them much better. That being said, I'm still a cat person at heart but I love love love Nella.

What do you guys think of dogs? Lemme know! Share a picture with me if you have one.

PS - If you want to see more of this mush, she has her own Instagram account @NellaBellaBooDog.

Sunday Social...

1. What Are You Most Looking Forward To About Fall?
Being married and starting a new life adventure.

2. What Is Your Favorite Sports Team?
I'm not really big into sports but I guess I'm a Mets fan by association thanks to Justin.

3. If You Could Go Back To College Is There One Thing You Would Change?
Unfortunately the things that ruined my college experience aren't things that I could go back and change (ex - Breaking my ankle while visiting Justin at his college, my Abuela dying and spending my twenty-first birthday in the hospital because I had an inflamed gallbladder that needed to be removed, etc).

4. What Was Your Favorite Class You Ever Took? (High School or College)
Favorite class ever... Hmmm... I loved chorus in high school. We had the best teacher ever and if it wasn't for him being oddly involved in his students' lives, I wouldn't be with Justin.

5. Reach Into Your Purse What Is The First Thing You Grab?
An Ipsy bag that I use to put my iPhone charger and external backup battery in.

Gossip Folks...

So my wedding is two weeks from Saturday and up until recently I haven't had to deal with much gossip and/or people running their mouths about stuff they don't know about in terms of my wedding at the library. But for some reason as of the last week I've had people come up to me questioning my guest list, people who I don't even care for texting other people asking about my wedding and I also found out that "Julia" was questioning "Emily" as to if she is attending or not. So as you can all guess, I'm super annoyed.

But I think the person who came up to me and questioned my guest list pissed me off the most. The individual in question started asking me if I invited the library director and my department head, and acted like I was hiding something from them. Like I secretly invited everyone but them and a handful of others, which is far from the truth. I have a total of thirty-five people attending my wedding and only one person coming to the actual ceremony has ever worked with me and that is "Favorite Page #1" -- I did invite "Favorite Page #2" and "Favorite Page #3" out barhopping along with Lenni and one other person. All of my other guests are family members and friends.

I just don't understand why anyone would think I was lying about who I invited to my wedding. Especially since I've said more than once that I wish that I was having a bigger wedding so I could invite everyone -- Not necessarily they person who was asking these questions though. So being grilled annoyed me beyond belief.

It's crap like this that made me take off the whole week before my wedding and decide to not come in the three work days between my wedding and honeymoon. I knew that these people would eventually start to frustrate the shit out of me and I'm glad I went with my gut.

Sorry for the rant.

Even More Reason To Love Dave Grohl & The Foo Fighters...

I know most of you are probably tired of seeing ALS Ice Bucket Challenge videos, but I had to share the one that Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters made because it is just epic.

How amazing is this video? I loved him and the band before but I think I love him even more so now. I especially love how creative they were with this and how he noted to "Donate after you dry off" which I feel like most people are forgetting to do.

Which was your favorite ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video? What do you think of the whole thing? Have you done it? Lemme know!

My Bachelorette Party In Instagram...

Friday evening was my bachelorette party and here are some of the Instagram pictures from the festivities, which included dinner in New York City at Ovest and tickets to Sleep No More at The McKittrick Hotel.
We didn't get to take many pictures because we were too busy eating during dinner and they didn't allow photography during Sleep No More. But we had an amazing time. I absolutely loved the food at Ovest and Sleep No More was epic. I cannot tell you how badly I want to go back and do it again.

Overall, I had an amazingly weird bachelorette party thanks to my sister, my cousins and my friends. And I love them for it and everything else they've done for me.
