Christmas Cards...

Instead of buying Christmas cards the other day (because I'm cheap and didn't feel like going out and finding awesome cards) I decided that I was going to draw a card (with me on it of course), photocopy it and give it to everyone that I deem fit to have one -- Obviously not "Julia" even though she left a card on my desk for some reason.

So, on Tuesday night while I was at work I ended up drawing it. "Emily" gave me a little bit of crap for it because I didn't personalize the cards. I drew a damn card! How much more personal do you want it to be?! I told her I was going to draw a card just for her of me with a yamaka on, holding a menorah and eating latkes because she is Jewish. She laughed and enjoyed it.

But aside from that comment everyone that has gotten the card as of thus far told me that they loved it and that they thought it was cute.

Middle Schoolers...

I want to know what is wrong with the current generation of middle school aged children. I know that middle schoolers throughout the ages have typically not been the most desirable of humans because of all of the hormones and such. But I swear that the current batch have all been exposed to something that has caused them to be stupider than generations past and I honestly don't understand what possess them to do the crap that they do.

What did they do today you ask? Well, aside from the normal mouthy group (One girl in particular gave "Emily" an earful) and the ones that sneak on the computers after we tell them they aren't allowed on anymore (The two moron brothers that we banned from the computers for two weeks for looking at inappropriate websites), we had these two girls hiding underneath one of our desks in the computer wearing coats and such. What the hell would posses them to do that?! When I yelled at them to get from under the desk they giggles like fools and ran away. Why?! I don't understand the need to do such stupid crap. I hate middle school aged children.

Fake Fights...

It seems that whenever "Marie" says something to "Julia" about anything (i.e. - Turning the fan off, being noisy and reading the windows she leaves open on the computer, etc.) "Julia" ended up lying to various people in the department (Mainly "Emily") about the interaction that they had. The current on being a "fight" about keeping the fan off. "Julia" claimed that she and "Marie" got into an argument about keeping that fan on, which wasn't true because I witnessed the whole thing. So obviously I told "Marie" that "Julia" had said this and she ended up confronting her about it today. "Marie" walked up to "Julia" and started inquiring about the fight that "Julia" claims that they had. "Julia" denied ever saying anything, but while she was doing so all of the blood drained from her face. In an attempt to avoid what was being said "Julia" kept repeating that she felt like something odd was going on yesterday when she walked in and that she didn't feel like she was being kept in the loop about anything blah blah blah blah... "Marie" had to say the same thing over and over again to her. Eventually she just told her that she would appreciate the she stop talking shit about her to "Emily" because they are friends. "Julia" replied with something stupid along the lines that she didn't want people talking shit about her either.

I'm so glad that "Marie" confronted "Julia" because she needed to be put in her place. She keeps making things up trying to get attention from people. Thankfully people are starting to ignore her and see her for who she truly is, a backstabbing psycho.

Dazed & Confused...

I just realized that I forgot to post about "Julia's" extra odd behavior on Tuesday night. Around 7:30pm (an hour and a half after she punched out) she wanders into the department, walks into the office and sits at her desk mumbling loudly that she guesses that she doesn't have to take a cab home because her keys had gone missing and she found them. Then she just got up and walked out without saying anymore. It was really weird. She looked like a hot mess and she seem super zonked out. It really confused myself, "Emily" and "Favorite Page #2".

Nobody Likes You...

I just found out that "Julia" had a conversation with "Emily" and she was complaining that no one in the office is talking to her. According to "Emily" she has no idea what she did wrong and can't understand why no one is speaking to her. Silly bitch, you done fucked up and we all hate you now -- I always hated you, but I hate you more so now than before.

Barbiturates & Bulletin Boards...

I survived my afternoon with "Julia" but it was painful because I can't stand being around her. Eventually "Emily" came to work and "Julia" left, but not before making a bunch of phone calls to various doctors trying to get her hands on some pain medication again -- I'm starting to think that she is addicted to pills, as well as being an alcoholic.

Oh shit, I just realized that I forgot to post about how on the Friday before the hurricane "Julia" spent the day calling doctors trying to get them to call in a prescription for pain medication and muscle relaxers for her without going into an office for a check up. It was ridiculous and everyone who was there that day thinks that she has a problem, wait until they hear about today. I can't believe that I didn't write about this. Probably because I was worrying about my own hurricane survival.

Back to today... "Emily" and I ended up having a super slow night. We really didn't do much. I mean, "Favorite Page #2" and I finally got around to making a Library Card Sign-Up Month bulletin board -- My Department Head will be happy to see that it is done when she walks in tomorrow. But that was really all we did because no one was in the library.

I Think I'm Going To Need A Few Drinks...

As per usual I'm stuck in the library this not so fine Tuesday night, but something slightly interesting just happened. "Emily" just got a phone call from "Julia" who is apparently at home freaking out because she doesn't know where any of the materials for the craft tomorrow are. According to "Emily" she said that she is at home having a panic attack at the idea of not knowing where anything is and she is about to have a few drinks. Unfortunately "Emily" caved and told "Julia" that she'd look around and put everything she needs to do the craft on her desk.

I actually know where everything is but I refuse to tell that idiot where anything is. She should have looked around the damn office and then she would have found what she needed. Instead she called up before she left the building to ask me and then again just now. I really cannot stand this woman.

Damn Knee...

About twenty minutes before I was supposed to be at work my right knee decided it hated me and my knee cap popped out of its socket. I called the library, said I was going to be late, wrapped my knee up in an bandage, elevated it for a bit and headed into work. Which sucked because when I got into work I found out that I was going to be stuck alone with "Julia" for several hours.

"Julia" did not make my day any easier. She didn't help anyone and I ended up limping around the library trying to find materials for all of the patrons. It was so irritating, I wanted to scream at her but God knows that is what she wants. Eventually "Emily" came in and saved the day, she is currently running around with the patrons so I don't hurt myself any further.

Caricature Of Oneself...

Yesterday we had a caricature artist come into our library for the kick off of our summer reading club. We had about twenty-five kids and their parents show up to have their pictures drawn and sign up for the club -- It doesn't sound like a lot but the last time we hired someone to do a kick off even hardly anyone showed up to have their faces painted. It was a nice time, the kids seemed to enjoy themselves and it wasn't too chaotic, which is always a good thing.

Towards the end of the artists time in the library there weren't really anymore children around so I had him draw a picture of me ("Emily" says it looks nothing like me), which I will have to post later because I haven't had a chance to scan it yet.

Craft Breakdown...

Apparently there was a cluster fuck of confusion going on in the department while I was on my dinner break yesterday. Our Department Head had left for the day without assigning someone to do the craft that we had going on. So "Julia" and "Amy" were left to figure this out on their own. They decided that "Julia" would do the craft, but apparently neither of them knew what the craft was supposed to be (It was a Father's Day craft) and they were running around trying to figure out what to do. At some point "Emily" realized what the two of them were trying to figure out and gave them the craft.

It doesn't end there, the geniuses couldn't find the key that opens our supply cabinet -- I was on my desk because I was going in and out of it today getting things to work on my decorations for the reading club. So they were freaking out trying to figure out how to do the craft, blah, blah, blah... "Emily" handed "Julia" some of the glue from the stash hidden under her desk, some markers and told "Julia" to deal with what she had. "Amy" obviously had to call our Department Head to inform her about what was going on and to try to get her help. She was no having it and told her they had to figure it out on their own.

I came back from my break after all of this happens. "Emily" tells me and I inform her that I have tons of paint and brushes under my desk, and that if they had called up into the staff room for me it all could have been avoided.

Moral of the story, I know where everything is and the two of them suck.

Tattling Librarian...

"Julia" has once again proven that she is a piece of work. At 6:00pm today she went downstairs, punched out, then proceeded to come back up to the Youth Services Department and sit down at the reference desk computer, where she started to work on an Excel spreadsheet for a continuing education course that she is taking -- Which has nothing to do with the library. "Emily" and I were in the office doing various things so we weren't paying attention to her, until she called into the room saying that she needed someone to help the patrons because she was off the clock. This pissed me off. So, I helped the patrons and said to her when I was done doing so that she might wanna go to one of the computers that the kids use because people are gonna think that she is working. She said she didn't feel like getting up and she continued to work on her spreadsheet. So what did I do? I texted and called the Department Head to tell her what "Julia" was doing. She was pissed at her, so she called in and made her leave. Now "Julia" is trying to figure out who tattled on her and I'm in my glory.

Neck Rolling Mothers...

After having the most peaceful first half of the day, "Emily" and I began the evening by getting screamed at by one of the kid's mothers. She came in rolling her neck, yelling at us for kicking her daughter out with all of the kids that were being bad -- Her daughter and a bunch of others were running around being loud, etc. She kept saying that her daughter didn't do anything, that she was nothing but respectful, that it wasn't fair that we lumped her daughter in with other kids, etc. -- She spent fifteen minutes yapping her mouth about how her child is an angel and how she is her mother, not us. We argued with her a little, telling her if her daughter wasn't being bad then she needs to learn to walk away from her friends if they are, blah blah blah... This wasn't a good enough answer for this delusional woman. She eventually left, but apparently as she was leaving she ran into our security guard who put her in her place and changed her mind about her daughter's behavior. I heard that once he talked to her that she started screaming at her daughter -- Which she deserved because she is bad.

After this woman left one of the tutors that was there walked up to me and whispered "That bitch is crazy. She got me in trouble with my assistant principle because she said I was disrespectful..." She went on for several minutes telling me about all of the problems this woman has caused her -- I mentioned it in my note in the incident book.

This wasn't the first time I've dealt with this crazy woman. She actually yelled at me several months ago for "screaming" at her daughter -- I almost cursed her out because of it. I really hate this woman.

Valentine's Day, House Parties, Etc...

Monday: As everyone knows was Valentine's Day. I spent my Valentine's Day working from 9:00am to 5:00pm -- Within those hours my passive aggressive side came out, I bought chocolate covered strawberries and gave one to everyone but "Sarah" because I really hate her.

After work I had dinner with my sister and her boyfriend, then the three of us went food shopping -- I was not a third wheel or anything, they had plans for Saturday instead of Valentine's Day. I know you're probably thinking why didnt' I hang out with my boyfriend, well I didn't hang out with Justin because it would have taken me an hour to get to his apartment, I would have had to go food shopping and then I would have had to cook dinner, I didn't wanna do all of this because I had to work a split shift the next day.

Tuesday: As I stated above, I worked a split shift. I went to a meeting in the morning with Lenni on Mobile Literacy and I worked with "Emily" in the evening. Nothing particularly interesting happened.

Wednesday: Was an annoying day at work. Within ten minutes of being in the library I wanted to tell several people to go to hell and leave for the day. Obviously I didn't, but I really wanted to. Instead I spent the first five hours of my day were spent running around in children's programs; setting up, taking photos of the children, doing circle times, cleaning up, etc. After the programs ended my day got better and work went quickly.

When I left work I went to dinner with Erin, then we met up with the boys to hang out. We went shopping and then we came back to my house to play video games. It was super amusing to watch my two best guy friends and my sister play Just Dance 2.

Thursday: Was another annoying work day. My Department Head was being nasty because she was figuring out statistics for the state report and there was just bad energy in the air.

One of the Processing Clerks sent down fifty books claiming that there were no record numbers for them and that they weren't in the OPAC. This was untrue, if the lazy Clerk in question would have searched the series title she would have found that there are indeed records for each of the books. I was going to send them back up to the clerical office but my Department Head made me find the records, print them out and then send the books back upstairs. I wanted to scream at her.

At one point my Department Head left for a while and in that time period one of the nasty Clerks called up and asked "Sarah" if we had a Page because the bookcart was full and they needed someone to bring it up and bring down an empty cart. She told them we didn't have a Page and the Clerk demanded someone come down for the cart, I refused to do it because I had just done a Clerk's job looking up the records so "Julia" went down to get it. After "Julia" brought the cart up we get another nasty call from the Clerk and she demanded an empty cart. I wanted to curse her out and yell at "Sarah" for thinking that "Julia" or I should have gotten the cart and not her -- I wanted to say "Bitch, I get paid too much money to be pushing carts around. Take your ass downstairs and get it."

In addition to those things I had the worst storytime in forever. I had twelve children and not enough crafts because the person who did the storytime failed to inform me that more pieces needed to be cut out. Aside from those things I had a child in the class that I took in to be nice because she had missed her class the day before for the older kids and she keep being annoying. Also, everyone had to use the bathroom, I stopped class at least five times to call children's parents in to take them out of the room.

Life after work was much better. Justin, Phil and a few other people came over to my house to hangout with my sister and I. We played video games, had dinner and drank a bit. It was an excellent ending to a blah day.

Friday: Work was peaceful -- My Department Head and "Sarah" were both off. "Julia" and "Amy" almost acted like normal humans, with the exception of "Julia" farting in the middle of the Youth Services Department and then saying "Pretend like you didn't hear that... Did you hear that?" -- I just rolled my eyes and walked away from her. Aside from that the day was wonderful.

After work my sister and I scrambled to clean up our house before people came over for our party -- Seeing as our parents went to Miami right after we got back from Aruba we thought it would be a great idea to have a house party. About ten people came over and we had a great time. We drank, ate and played the game from Inglorious Bastards (2009) -- For those of you that haven't seen the movie they play a game at a bar where they have the names of famous people/characters on their foreheads and they have to guess who they are by asking yes or no questions, it was a great party game. I actually figured out who I was after two questions -- I was Hitler thanks to Phil.

Saturday: I spent the day in New York City with Justin. We started off the day by going to the Coffee and Tea Festival NYC at 7 West. We have actually never attended the festival before, so we didn't know what to expect. It was an event that was open to the public but it was definitely geared more towards people within the coffee and tea businesses. We really didn't mind, we walked around, tried various coffees, teas and desserts, got some swag, etc. It was a nice random thing to do for the day.

The festival ran from 11:00am to 5:00pm. We basically did everything that we could in about two hours, so we decided to hang out in the city for the rest of the day. We went to Bryant Park, had lunch at Connolly's Pub & Restaurant, walked through Times Square and picked up French macarons at the Macaron Café.

Mouthy Kids, Dinosaurs & Crêpes...

Thursday evening the girl that told "Emily" and I off came into the library after she had been kicked out by our Director Tuesday night. I had to tell her she had to get out because of her behavior on Tuesday and this caused her to get mouthy with me, so I got my Department Head and called the Director. I made them deal with her mouthy ass, who cursed them out her entire way out. After that chaos I ended up having to do program registration. Thankfully it was a slow registration and as soon as the clock hit 6:00pm I grabbed "Favorite Page #1" so we could go get spa pedicures.

Friday I forgot that I had to go read to preschool children at one of the elementary schools and I had to rush to the library, grab the books I was planning to read and head over to the school. I was only 5 minutes late. I read them a bunch of stories on Dinosaurs that they didn't pay attention to and then I headed back to work. While at work I made crêpes in the office and eventually I had drawing club. Boring, but lovely Friday.

Computer Room Chaos...

For the first time in months we had a huge problem with the tweens and teens that come in. A bunch of them were on the computers and when their hours were up we told them they had to get out of the room. Some of them walked out and thought they were being slick by going to our outside computers, while a bunch of them just continued to sit in the computer room. The kids outside formed a big group and they started talking loud and cursing so "Emily" (who has not been here in almost a month) went and said something to them. One of the girls starts mouthing off, telling "Emily" that she was a bitch, etc. This pisses "Emily" off even more than she already was and she tells them loudly that they have to leave. The mouthy girl keeps running her mouth to the point where I tell them all just to stop and go home. They all get up and walk into the computer room. So "Emily" walks into the room and shuts the computer off that one of the girls who was supposed to have gotten off was working at off, thus causing this girl to go batshit. She started cursing, saying that she was gonna have her mother come up here and curse us out. We told her that was nice and that she needed to get out. No one was moving, so I paged for the guard over the loud speaker. This caused the Director to run into the department, which was good because he saw exactly what was going on. With him around we got them out and they are not allowed to come back for a few days.

Foolishness...

Yeah, so the new woman (aka "Sarah") is too demanding for me. As I stated, on her first day last week she tried to talk our Department Head into giving her Tuesday nights -- Tuesdays belong to "Emily" and I, thank you very much. She did it again tonight. Lady, I know for a fact that when they interviewed you for the job that they told you that you'd be working Wednesday nights, so sit down and shut up.

In addition to the Tuesday night bullshit, she was trying to change her Saturday hours. Everyone is assigned one Saturday a month and the part time employees work from 10:30am to 3:30pm on their Saturdays. She was trying to tell our Department Head that 9:00am to 1:00pm would work better for her. I wanted to walk up to her and say "Honey, you have worked here less than two weeks. You are still on probation. Sit down, shut the hell up and take the bitch work because you are low man on the totem pole. Oh, and I'm head bitch in charge here." The minute she was done stating her demands I texted the Department Head "This bitch sure has a lot of demands..." She laughed when she saw it.

Honestly I will put this woman in her place if I have to. I'll keep you updated on the situation, especially since the holiday party is on Friday.

I Had A Dream...

Less than five minutes before closing a crazy looking woman walks in muttering something about a book she bought and donated to the library from Amazon® and how she had a dream about it and wanted to see it. She didn't know the name but she remembered that it was by the guy who wrote "Three Cups of Tea" (either Greg Mortenson or David Oliver Relin). It was so odd. "Emily" and I were trying to tell her we were closing, but she wouldn't have it. It was terrible.

A Tale Of Two Cars...

I was working with "Emily" tonight and I was told a little story about "Julia". Apparently "Emily" and "Julia" were working with each other on a particularly cold evening and "Emily" figured she'd use her remote starter to heat up her car. She goes to the window and starts her car up. "Julia" looks at her and says it's a great idea and that she is gonna do that same, but "Emily" needs to teach her how to do it. "Emily" looks at her and tells her she can't do it because she needs to have a remote starter for her car, which she doesn't.

This is the kind of person she is... She is the stupidest person I have ever met.

November 3, 2010

Native Americans...

I worked another 1:00pm to 9:00pm shift today, and I must say it was so very peaceful because "Julia" didn't talk to anyone today. She was obviously pissed off at myself, the Department Head and "Emily" so she didn't bother dealing with any of us. It was glorious.

Unfortunately the peacefulness stopped when the children got off from school and started coming in with their parents asking for books on Native Americans. Apparently back in the day Native American projects were big in our school district but at some point they stopped assigning them and we were stuck with tons of books about Native Americans. This year they are once again popular and we have every fourth graders in the district asking us for books on various tribes. If they didn't come when the assignment was first given they are out of luck. All we have left are reference books that we have been telling them to photocopy from, this is not an acceptable answer to the majority of parents and thus we have been getting earfuls from them. Someone scalp me!
