Birthday Recap | Boozy Brunch & My Favorite Murder...

This past Saturday was my birthday and in true me fashion, I went into New York City with my sister, Day, Toni & Erin and drank a lot.

We kicked off the festivities of the day early in the afternoon by popping a bottle of champagne on the LIRR and annoying everyone else in the surrounding seats with our loud chatter until we arrived at Penn Station.

Once in the city we headed to PS 450 for brunch with unlimited mimosas, bellinis, etc. and an amazing selection of hip hop (You all should know by now, I love me some rap music) playing loudly in the background.
We ate, we drank, I cried, we drank, we laughed, I cried, we danced in our seats. It was a good time.

When our two hours was up at PS 450 we hopped in another Uber and went for few more drinks and a couple of "moments" at The 13th Step. I don't remember how long we were there because by the time I had to leave I was double fisting drinks, which is never a good thing for my liver or memory.

But yeah, we parted ways outside of The 13th Step and earlier than we'd normally stop partying because it was time for my sister and I to head to the Beacon Theatre to see My Favorite Murder live.
Unfortunately when we arrived at the Beacon we were pretty drunk, so my sister bought us a couple of boxes of popcorn and we devoured them in an attempt to sober up. Which surprisingly, at least in my case, worked. So I got to enjoy an hour-ish of seeing Karen and Georgia live, with a pretty interesting hometown murder from an audience member -- My sister not so much so, she fell asleep during Karen's murder (She's not a Murderino, she didn't know what I was taking her to, so it's okay).

After the show we got an Uber and headed back to Penn Station to go home because we were pretty beat by then.

All in all it was a very good birthday. I'm so grateful for everyone that came out and dealt with me. I can honestly tell all of you that I have a pretty amazing group of friends and a bad ass little sister.

Day's Halloween Party

Saturday night Day had her now annual Halloween party at her and Erin's apartment. And as in the past we had a theme, comic book villains (We just love being bad guys). So just about everyone showed up as some sort of DC comic villain -- Phil and Rob came dressed up as Eleven and Joyce from Stranger Things (2016-Present) but because they looked amazing we forgave them for not adhering to the theme.

We spent the evening drinking, eating, taking dumb photos and just bullshitting until we decided to go to one of the local bars to party it up with the rest of those celebrating Halloween that Saturday night.

It was a great night. I absolutely love getting dressed up for Halloween and doing stuff with my friends.

Girls Afternoon | Paint Nite...

After months of trying to coordinate with my friends, we were finally able to attend a Paint Nite yesterday -- Which is something Toni and I have literally been trying to do forever with each other.
Original Artist: Christian Elder

For those of you that don't know, Paint Nites are events where people spend two hours creating a "one-of-a-kind" painting at a popular local bar/restaurant. There are typically calendars available on the various companies websites (Paint Nite, Muse Paintbar, etc) that show the paintings available for different days of the week and/or locations.

Anyways, like I said we've been trying to coordinate for months because we're all busy or the days we were available we didn't like the painting that were being offered. So we finally found a date, time and painting that we all liked so we went and got our paint on.

The painting we chose was titled "Moonlit Mermaid" and it was considered a moderate level painting (Paintings range from easy on up).
So yeah... Basically myself, Toni, Erin and Maria sat for two hours painting (With an awesome and funny instructor telling us what to do) and drinking while Justin and Day bopped in every-so-often to give us drink refills and/or say snarky things about our paintings (The two of them were drinking at the bar outside of the room Paint Nite was in and Justin was pretty drunk by the time we finished painting).
It was honestly so much fun and I cannot wait to do another one. If you've been thinking about doing one but you haven't yet, I highly recommend it.

If you have taken part in a Paint Nite or something similar, how was your experience? I would love to know! I'd also love to see the picture you painted!

Booze, Karaoke & Dancing | A Welcome Home Party For Chas...

Last week Chas moved back to New York after living in California for the past thirteen years, so in honor of her coming home we threw her a welcome home party this past weekend.

So the weekend started off with a bunch of us (Myself, Day, Chas and Amanda) meeting at Toni's house on Saturday so that we could all take the LIRR into New York City together (We always have a stupid interesting time on the train).

After arriving at Penn Station we got an Uber to take us to The Bryant Park Hotel, where Day got a room for the evening. We spent a few hours eating snacks, drinking, getting ready and catching Pokemon (Yes, a handful of us have been sucked into the world of Pokemon Go) before Alana met up with us at the hotel and we continued doing more of the same.

Once everyone was pretty we walked over to Japas 38 to kick off the evening in a private karaoke room with bad food and cheap liquor.
Here is what I can remember of our karaoke selections...

► "Anaconda" by Nicki Minaj
► "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" by N'Sync
► "Timber" by Pitbull & Kesha
► "I Want It That Way" by Backstreet Boys
► "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5
► "Waterfalls" by TLC
► "Spice Up Your Life" by Spice Girls
► "Sweet Child o' Mine" by Guns N' Roses
► "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette
► "Super Bass" by Nicki Minaj
► "Say My Name" by Destiny's Child
► "Bye Bye Bye" by N'Sync
► "I Touch MySelf" by Divinyls
► "Wannabe" by Spice Girls
►  "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" by Bonnie Tyler

After two hours of singing like fools we were kicked out of our room and not allowed to take the left over booze to the main bar, which if we were allowed to do we probably would have stayed longer to show up the group that was singing out there. Instead we drank the booze we snuck out of the room and then headed back to The Bryant Park Hotel to go to The Cellar Bar, where we drank overpriced cocktails and danced to 1990's and 2000's music.
Eventually everyone by Day, Chas and I trickled out of the bar to go back to Long Island. We stayed and continued dancing until we decided we wanted a change of scenery. So we left (Danced up the stairs like fools to a song I cannot remember for the life of me) and walked down the block to hit up another bar that happened to just closed for the night. Since we were kinda drunk and it was late we just went back to The Cellar Bar and continued drinking and dancing there until we decided it was time for bed.

The next day we woke slightly hungover but hell bent on making it to our brunch reservation at Barraca (Which is where we were supposed to go for brunch the day after my birthday party this year but didn't make it because I was super hungover from being a sloppy double fisting booze guzzler the night before), which we did.

At Barraca the three of us split a ton of tapas and only ordered one drink each before heading back to Long Island.
I cannot even begin to explain how much fun we had and how excited we are that after thirteen year Chas is back in New York. This was definitely the first of many weekends of debauchery and I personally cannot wait for our next outing.

Fourth Of July Weekend...

As did the majority of the country, I celebrated 'Merica with my friends and family this weekend. So here is a recap of my Fourth of July weekend...

We started off the weekend by having a beach day on Saturday. Myself, Justin, my sister, Day, Erin and some other friends hit up the beach for basically the whole day before getting tired and semi-parting ways.
After the beach Day and I went shopping for the party at Toni and Tom's house the next day. So we went to a bunch of different stores looking for clothing, food, drinks and party supplies before we got crazy hungry and picked up Justin (Who had taken his own car to the beach and when straight back to our apartment once we were done there) to get dinner. We went to our favorite little taco place and then out for a few drinks before calling it a night.

Sunday we threw an inappropriately named/themed party (Which if you follow me on Snapchat, you know all about) and even though there were only six of us, we had the best time ever. Like really, I cannot tell you how much fun Justin, Day, Toni, Tom, Amanda and I had just bullshitting, drinking and eating lots of food.
The actual Fourth of July was a really low key day because Justin and I had partied hard the night before (Justin more so than me but I am always cool with being lazy), so we kinda just stayed in bed all morning and then hung out like bums in our apartment for the rest of the day.

So yeah, that was my Fourth of July weekend. I hope you all had an awesome Fourth! And I would love to know what you did and how you celebrated.

Happy Birthday To Me | My 31st Birthday Weekend...

My thirty-first birthday was this past Friday, so I did what every other Long Islander would do and celebrated my birth for a whole weekend (Mainly thanks to Day who put together the most amazing weekend for me). And I started my birthday weekend off by having all you can eat sushi with my family, followed by a super yummy tres leche cake.
Not that all you can eat sushi with my family wasn't great but the real birthday festivities began on Saturday. And it started with me meeting up with Day and Toni at Toni's house. Where I was greeted with middle school style balloons (Which I did bring into the city with me and back to Long Island at the end of the weekend) and Day mixing drinks in dollar store sippy cups for the train ride into the city.

After a mimosa or two, Toni's husband drove us to the train station and we hopped on the LIRR. On the train we sipped on our drinks and watched the stops to make sure my sister caught the same train as us once her stop rolled around.

We found my sister, made friends with the conductor who told Day she was a hot mess, drank out of our sippy cups, did shots of Fireball, etc. until we got to our destination.
Once we got into the city we popped on the taxi line outside of Penn Station and took a taxi to Chinatown to Hotel Mulberry, where Day booked us a room for the night.

After checking in, settling into the room, getting some dollar dumplings from some little hole in the wall around the corner from the hotel and finding Liz, the five of us wandered around Mott Street looking for something to eat. We ended up at Ajisen Ramen where we pigged out on kani salad and big bowls of ramen.
Once the five of us had our fill of ramen we went back to the hotel to start getting ready for the actual festivities planned for the evening. When we got back my sister realized that she forgot the pair of leggings she wanted to wear back on Long Island, so she and Liz got an Uber and went in search of leggings for her tiny human self. And while they were on their mission Day, Toni and I started getting ready and pre-gaming.

Eventually Phil and Rob showed up and joined in on the consumption of Fireball, cheap vodka and champagne, as well as started a Missy Elliot dance party (Which mainly consisted of Phil dancing in the corner). And at some point during all of this my sister and Liz made their way back to the hotel with a pair of leggings.
So the whole time this is going on Day and Toni keep telling me that we're waiting on Amanda to show up so we can head over to M1-5, the bar/lounge we were going to for the night. At some point Toni says she is gonna go downstairs to see if the vending machine has any good snacks and a couple of minutes go by and there is a knock on the door. Day tells me it's probably Toni or Amanda and that I should go open the door. So I go to open the door and waiting on the other side is not Toni or Amanda, it's Chas who decided to fly to New York and surprise me for my birthday.

All I could do was scream and hugging her -- Which was caught from various angles on various social media platforms.

Once I got over the shock of her showing up and she said hello to everyone else, she changed and we headed over to M1-5 where Amanda, her boyfriend, Lisa and Andrew were waiting for us.

When we were all finally together our hostess got us our table and then people started buying me drinks, we started dancing and I eventually got really drunk (Toni said I tried to drink all the alcohol in Manhattan).
After hours of partying we eventually got an Uber and headed back towards the hotel. Instead of going straight to the hotel we decided to try and see if the dollar dumping place was open. It was not. Then we went to a karaoke bar near the hotel. We sat down for all of two seconds when Day told us we needed to leave. Apparently they told Day it was fifteen dollars per person if we weren't drink, so Day said screw that and we finally headed to the hotel.

Once we got to the room someone ordered us some Dominos, which I didn't get to eat because I was drunk on the floor. Then we had a noise complaint filed against us so Day got sassy with the person at the desk. And we eventually all fell asleep with Lord of the Rings (2001) playing in the background.

Fast forward to the next morning... I was beyond hungover and basically spent the morning throwing up. Which led to us cancelling our brunch plans. So we just headed back to Long Island to Toni's house to hang out and that led to an impromptu Fat Kid Sunday dinner which was so great.
We all just listened to bad early 2000's music, cooked, bullshitted, played games, etc. Until everyone was tired. At that point Chas came with me to my apartment where we played video games, watched the first episode of Love (2016 - Present) and just talked until we decided we should go to sleep.

The next day we got up earlier than we both would have liked to and met Day, Toni and a few of the kids at a diner for breakfast.

When we were done I drove Day back to her apartment so she could pack for her trip to Puerto Rico, then Chas and I went to the mall for an afternoon of unnecessary shopping (There were Pokemon hats, expensive loose leaf tea, makeup, etc. purchased).

At some point Day texted us so we decided to head back to her place. When we got there she and Erin were drinking wine on her bed and watching Fuller House (2016 - Present). So the four of us BS'ed for a while until I had to leave to head over to Alana and Allie's new apartment for a smudging session, homemade birthday dinner and ice cream with candles in it and a fork to eat it with. Which was the best way to end my birthday weekend.
Honestly I cannot express how amazing my friends are and how grateful I am for all of them. They made my thirty-first birthday the best birthday ever. I love them so much and am truly #blessed to have such amazing, caring and giving people in my life. I can't wait for their birthdays to roll around so I can try to make theirs as special as they have made mine.
