Sunday Social...

1. What Was Your Favorite Halloween Costume As A Kid?
As a kid-kid none of my costumes stick out, but as a teenager I had this sweet sorceress costume.

2. If You Could Go Back To Your Childhood & Dress Up As Something, What Would It Be?
I remember wanting a Southern belle costume as a child that my mother wouldn't buy for me because she refused to pay whatever the cost of it was. So I'd probably be that.

3. What Was Your Favorite Halloween Costume As An Adult?
Honestly I can't just pick one. I've loved them all.
4. What Is Your Favorite Halloween Candy?
Tootsie Caramel Apple Orchard Pops

5. What Is Your Favorite Halloween Memory?
Spending Halloween in the bars when I was in college, and now...

6. What Is Your Favorite Scary Movie?
Halloween (1978)

Seven Questions: Back To School Edition...

Random night out drinking in Binghamton, NY 2007.

1. It's back to school time! Are YOU going back to school?
I am not. I got my masters degree in January 2011 and I've been taking a break from school because I went nonstop from preschool through my masters. I will go back maybe next year to start working on my PHD.

2. Speaking of back to school... You receive 10 pts if you can name this movie:
"Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms."
Nope. No clue. But I'll give you 10 points if you can name the movie this quote is from...
"Back to school. Back to school, to prove to Dad that I'm not a fool. I got my lunch packed up, my boots tied tight, I hope I don't get in a fight. Ohhhh, back to school. Back to school. Back to school. Well, here goes nothing."
3. Who did you hang out with in school? Cool kids, jocks, nerds, were you a loner, etc?
My school wasn't really separated by the normal high school cliques. I hung out with who I liked.

4. What was your favorite subject in school?
Psychology

5. If you had to go back and redo one of the following, which would you choose and why? Preschool, Elementary, Middle School, High School, College?
None of them. They all happened the way they did for a reason & I am who I am because of it.

6. Home/ Packed Lunch or School Lunch?
Both throughout the course of my life. Packed in elementary and school lunch in middle & high school.

7. What's more exciting? The first day of school or the last day of school?
Last day of school because it meant freedom for a few months.

Seven Question...

Halloween 2008

1. The Olympics are awesome! What's your favorite Summer Olympic event to watch?
Gymnastics. Everything else is boring to me.

2. If you could compete in an Olympic event (either season), which would it be?
Something gymnastics wise.

3. Would you rather be tickled to death or poked (by finger) constantly for the rest of your life?
Poked all of the way. I can't stand being tickled.

4. Do you keep your nails long or short? Square or round?
I'd love for them to be long but they break all of the time, so I have medium nails that are squared with rounded edges.

5. Do you think you're funny?
I think I am. But I also know that not everyone understands my sense of humor.

6. When you have something you're looking forward to SO much, but it's still a ways off, what do you do to keep yourself distracted?
I don't. I obsess over things. Not healthy, I know.

7. You've just won an Olympic Gold Medal! What are you going to do next?!?!
Go to Disney World. Duh!

Seven Questions...

My friend Ben & I beating the crap out of each other with socks filled
with baby powder in the hallways of our dorm in 2006 or 2007.

1. If you were to start your own business, what would it be?
My dream is to one day open a Coffee/Tea hangout spot with Phil. We've been talking about doing it for years and I can't wait until we actually do it. We have the name picked out, I've drawn out logos, etc.

I'd also like to open a trendy plus sized shop somewhere on Long Island. When you're 20-something and plus sized it's flippin' hard to find cute clothing. I work really hard to try and find the cutest things I can.

2. You wake up on the wrong side of the bed, do you embrace your grumpiness or try to fight it?
I'm Cuban, I totally embrace my grumpiness and let my grumpy flag fly.

3. What's the very first memory you have?
I'm not good at stuff like this, you'd think I would be because I can remember tons of stuff but for some reason I don't remember much from my early childhood. Which is weird because I had a good one.

4. The world is ending, what do you do? Allow yourself to die? Fight? Hide? Etc.
It depends on how crap goes down, but I'm 99.9% sure I'd fight no matter what. I'm a survivor, I come from a survivor. My dad was a Pedro Pan kid, he was sent from Cuba at the age of 10 to Miami because of  rumors that the Cuban government would begin taking children against the wishes of their parents to military schools and to Soviet labour camps. He was sent to an orphanage in Michigan (While my Tia got to stay with a family friend who refused to take my father, even though they told my grandmother they would) and lived there for nine months until my grandmother came to the US from Cuba. And in those nine months he changed and in growing up learned how to be a survivor and do what you have to do.

In addition to my father being a Pedro Pan kid, he took part in the Mariel Boatlift. My Tio fought in the Bay of Pig and my grandmother was a nurse taking bullets out of Cubans revolting agains Castro. Survivor family!

5. What is your favorite meal of the day?
Dinner.

6. How do you best learn? Visual? Listening? Hands on?
I'm a listener. I need to be in a classroom and listen to the information I need to know. I retain information well, at least I think I do.

7. What is your favorite joke?
I don't really tell jokes. My mother tells some pretty dirty one and Justin tries to tell dirty jokes. And right now I'm blanking on a good one.

Brits & Bar Hopping...

For some reason this past week and a half I really hadn't checked Facebook, so you can guess that it was a big shock to me when my friend Mike* texted me yesterday asking if I was meeting up with them in the City because our friend Matt was visiting from England. After getting said text I rushed to get ready and took the first train into the City I could catch. And as soon as I got to Penn I caught the N train to Eighth Street and made my way to McSorley's where they were. Once I get there I find Mike outside and he mumbled something about maybe not staying there because some of our friends were stuck in Queens. I wasn't really sure at the time what he was saying all I knew was that a handful of my friends were already inside and the bouncer made me
wait in line by the tree to get in. The minute I did get in Mike turned me around and said we were leave.

After my friends Christine, Liz, Andrew and Matt all trickled out from the bar (and after hugs) we all decided to walk down to Horus Café to smoke some hookah. We walk down to Avenue B just to find out that the place isn't open until 5:00pm. Saddened, we all just ended up walking down the block to see where we could chill until Horus opened. We ended up going to Croxley's Ale House (Which I love) and we spent hours there -- All of our other friends came wandering in at one point or another while we were there.

When 5:00pm finally rolled around the twelve of us headed back down to Horus to smoke some hookah. Four hookahs later, lots of mint tea and some vomit on the floor we ended up splitting into three groups. I mean, we all ended up at the same place eventually (Boss Tweeds Saloon). But before ended up at Boss Tweeds myself, Matthew and Michael all stopped by a bar near there to have a few drinks and play some pool. Eventually Mike and one of our other friends showed up and informed us that everyone else was at the other bar so we moved on.

Once we walked into Boss Tweeds we found out that the staff knew nothing about the open bar special posted on their website (Which is clearly right here) and claimed that their manager was going to be in in 10 minutes. He never showed up. Despite the lack of an open bar we ended up staying there for the rest of the night. Throughout the course of the time we were there I got hit on by some big dude and had to pretend that one of the boys was my boyfriend, played air hockey, took pictures in a photo booth with Liz & Christine, watched my friends have their asses handed to them in beer pong, drank, danced and had a great time. I love hanging out with my college friends.

* = Mike and Michael are two different people, as are Matt and Matthew.Link
