Tea Party...

Today at work I threw a Mother/Daughter tea party. I didn't have the biggest turnout but the handful of mothers and daughters that did come enjoyed themselves. We had iced tea, lemonade, various cookies and fluff & strawberry jam sandwiches. In addition to all of the yumminess we did a little wooden tea cup craft, which the girls enjoyed making.

 

It was a sweet little party and I'd love to do it again for a bigger crowd of mothers and daughters.

Starving For Attention...

"Julia" seemed extra off balance to me today. She kept talking to me and/or butting in to conversations like I was actually going to entertain whatever chemical was off whack in her brain today. First she started with asking me about any murmurings of a holiday party (In reality I have no idea what is going on in terms of a holiday party because I refuse to attend this year, so I could care less about it but I didn't say that to her), then she started butting in on the conversation I was having with "Lori" and "Amy" about the bridesmaids dress I have to wear to my friend's wedding in January and then she proceeded to try to get involved in a conversation I was having with "Emily" and "Lori" about dog clothing.

She seemed extra starved for attention or something today. I refuse to play games or even acknowledge any utterance that comes from her direction. I don't know why she thinks that she can be a total bitch one day and try to be buddy-buddy the next day. That crap doesn't fly with me.

Photo Booth Props...

Honestly I spent the majority of my time at work today cutting out photo booth props to use at our teen reading club party tomorrow. I decided last week when "Favorite Page #2" and I were messing around with the random props I made that it would be a great idea to create a photo booth at the teen party because lets face it, what teen doesn't like photos of themselves doing stupid things. So I figured I'd hang a flat sheet on the wall, throw some random props and costume thingies on a table, set up my tripod, take pictures of them and e-mail them the end product.

Birthday Party For The Good Doctor...

Seeing as today is Dr. Seuss' 107th birthday, we had a party with the kids. I spent hours setting up the program room -- I covered the tables with yellow paper, hung up balloons and cut outs of Dr. Seuss characters, set up a book display, set the tables, made goody bags, turned a red velvet cake into Thing One, etc. It all took forever, but it was worth it because the room looked awesome. I had twenty-three kids (and some that I had to deny) show up. We ate pizza that the local Domino's donated to us, played a Seuss trivia game, sang "Happy Birthday" and ate cake, then we did a craft -- We made doll head pins look like Thing One and Thing Two. It was a lot of stuff crammed into one hour, it was hectic at times, someone got red paint all over our white walls and I got some attitude, but it was still an awesome party. Thankfully I have time to recover from this party before I throw another.

Monster Mash...

I threw a Halloween party for the kids of the library today. It was an hour long, but we had a lot of fun. I had about sixteen kids attend, it was a good crowd -- I was happy with that none of the kids with pain in the ass parents showed up. The kids played games, danced, did crafts, ate snacks and listened to me read scary stories. I think I'll do it again next year.

Retirement Party Revisited...

I forgot that I had taken a picture of the cake from the retirement party. Here it is; white cake with chocolate pudding as the filling and vanilla whipped cream icing -- I didn't eat any so I don't know how it tasted, I heard it was good.

Retirement Party...

Yesterday we had a retirement party at the Library for one of the ladies that works in my department. After sixteen years of employment here she is leaving to do whatever it is that old people do after they retire.

It was a nice party thanks solely to me. My Department Head went on vacation last week into the middle of this week and left me with the task of harassing the entire staff for money to buy the retiree a gift & a cake. I collected all of the money, picked up the gift (an iPod Touch®), ordered & picked up the cake, as well as put together, order and pick-up lunch for my Department. I did everything for this woman's retirement party without any help from my coworkers.

As I was walking in yesterday with my huge purse, the gift, the half sheet cake and lunch (after being soaked by the rain) I got stupid comments from "Julia" and "Amy" about needing help or not doing something. "Julia" had the nerve to say to me that I didn't order her lunch -- That stupid stuttering bitch didn't tell me what she wanted or give me any money (I'd rather die than spot her a penny) , so no I didn't order her lunch. And "Amy" was all "Why didn't you ask us for help?!" Maybe because you are two of the stupidest people I have ever met?

Aside from my stupid coworkers the party went well. The retiree loved the gift and the whole party. She actually just called me here at the library to tell me how much she appreciated everything that I did and how much she enjoyed it. That made all of the bull worth it.
