10th Birthday Party...

Today was Justin's sister's 10th birthday -- Yes, she was born September 11th, 2001. So we basically spent our entire day doing birthday related things. The party was at his mother's house, so we headed over there early to help them out.

Before we actually got to the house we went to pick up a birthday cake because Justin's mother texted me yesterday and ask me if we could pick a cannoli cake up for her. When we got to the house and I went to put the cake in the fridge there was already a cake there. Apparently she texted Justin and told him not to get a cake because she was gonna do it, he didn't see the message and they ended up with two cannoli cakes and another random one that his sisters made. Can we say communication fail?

After the cake thing Justin and I set up a little photo booth corner for the kids to mess around with -- Yes, I used the same photo booth props that I made for the Teen Reading Club Party and unlike that party, the kids (And the adults) loved the whole photo booth thing and they took tons of photos.

The guests started to arrive around 4:00pm and they spent the majority of their time messing around with the photo booth props and playing Apples To Apples Junior (Which was actually a lot of fun, I need to go pick up the regular edition) until it was crêpe time. Yes, Justin's little sister demanded crêpes as the food of choice for her party.

Justin's mother set up a little crêpe bar for the guests to create their own crêpes. She had Nutella, strawberries, bananas, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, bacon, powdered sugar, raspberry jam and lemons. It went over really well, everyone enjoyed creating their own crêpe concoctions.

The party lasted a few hours and was extremely successful for a random at home party.

365 Days Of Pictures: Day 183...

Teen Reading Club Party...

Earlier today I threw the party that I mentioned yesterday for the teens that finished the reading club. I started setting up for the party hours before it even started. I took a sheet and hung it up to create a makeshift photo booth, I set up a table with the props I cut out and other various dress up items, set up my tripod, I put out a variety of junk food (candy, chips, pretzels, cupcakes, soda, etc.), we bought five pizzas, etc. -- I spent a lot of time and energy setting things up.

The teens arrived, the party went well but they wanted nothing to do with all of the photo booth stuff I set up -- "Mini Page" and "Favorite Page #2" were shocked that the teens that attended didn't want their pictures taken. They spent the majority of the party playing with all of the balloons I had blown up and left around the room -- I was amazed at how much balloons entertained them.

They might not have done what I set up but they all thanked me and said that they had a good time throughout the party and as they were leaving. I don't understand our teens.

Photo Booth Props...

Honestly I spent the majority of my time at work today cutting out photo booth props to use at our teen reading club party tomorrow. I decided last week when "Favorite Page #2" and I were messing around with the random props I made that it would be a great idea to create a photo booth at the teen party because lets face it, what teen doesn't like photos of themselves doing stupid things. So I figured I'd hang a flat sheet on the wall, throw some random props and costume thingies on a table, set up my tripod, take pictures of them and e-mail them the end product.

Here are the props that I cut out. If you click on them you'll be able to download them and make your own for whatever reason you'd like -- I got them all from Oh Happy Day!

Teen/Tween Reading Club Party...

Today my day consisted of a million notes taped on to my desk pertaining to a half a million various topics -- Mostly the teen/tween reading club party that I had to throw this fine evening. It was crazy the number of instructions taped to the desk. I don't need someone to hold my hand through every step of planing a pizza party for teens and tween, geez.

After plowing through all of the notes on my desk I had to get the ball in motion for the party. I had to figure out how many children RSVPed and how many children would just show up without any warning (I actually lectured the children who didn't RSVP about needing numbers to know how much food to buy, etc). I got the proper amount of money to order pizza and drinks for the children, then I called the pizza place hours ahead of time telling them that I needed four pies by 6:00pm. Once this was all done I didn't actually have to do anything until it was time for me to set up the room with the prizes and such.

The party lasted from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and the seventeen kids that showed up ate all four pies that I had ordered and made a mess of the room during the process. But they had fun so it was all good. I made sure everyone won a prize and that they were all happy. So the party was a success and I don't have to worry about another one for several months.
