Recovering From COVID

As you may or may not know, I got COVID right after Christmas and was banished to my bedroom to quarantine through the first week of January. And even though I've tested negative since, I'm still suffering from fatigue and insomnia. So, if anyone has been wondering where I've been (Especially those who follow me on Instagram), I've been spending almost all of my down time napping or trying to relax because I've never been this tired in my life.

It's honestly been terrible and I'm just hoping it subsides soon. Especially because I'm about to go to Puerto Rico with Justin to visit Day and Ryan, and I just want to be able to have a good time. I've been looking forward to going down there with Justin for months and having these lingering symptoms is horrible.

So, hopefully I'll feel better once I'm down in the tropical weather. I doubt it, but one can wish.

Sick Librarian...

So I got back from Ocean City last Monday evening and since the trip I've had this horrible cold (Which my sister and Erin seem to have contracted also) and on top of that I got conjunctivitis -- It was a particularly gross case of it, like I didn't go to work for two days it was so bad.

So yeah, I'm on the mend and I should be back up and running by tomorrow or Tuesday the latest for those of you that have been wondering why I've been MIA since posting that I was going away.

Sick Sad Little Librarian...

Seeing as I haven't posted anything in almost a week I thought that I'd do a little update, not that anything interesting has happened aside from me getting randomly sick.

Basically after coming back from Cancun and going to The House That Jack Built (2013) premiere in New York City, I kinda spent the next two day bumming around my apartment doing nothing. And obviously while doing nothing in my apartment I got a wicked head cold/sinus thing, which eventually and magically turned into a chest cold.

So yeah, I've been sick since Friday night and that is why no one has heard a peep from me. I'm honestly just trying to get better before New York Comic Con this weekend because it would kill me to be dragging at NYCC.

Sick Days...

So, on Monday I really wasn't feeling well and I ended up calling in sick to work (I woke up at 5:00am and it felt like someone was kicking my in the stomach with boots on). When I called in at 8:30am to speak to my Director (Before the library actually opens and so he could give people in my department a heads up as they came into the building) and tell him that I wouldn't be coming in he decided to be snarky with me and ask me why I was calling in. He got a snarky answer back from me, he said whatever and I proceeded being sick all day in my apartment.

Fast forward to yesterday. It's after 9:00am and "Julia" calls up our department and tells "Marie" that she won't be coming into work because she isn't feeling well. "Marie" puts her on hold because when you call in sick in our building you have to speak to either your Department Head, the Director, Assistant Director or our payroll lady -- Which "Julia" knows, but she thinks she is being slick or whatever by calling the actual department even though we all make her talk to one of the above. Our Director, Assistant Director and Department Head all aren't in the building, so "Marie" had to get our payroll lady. She apparently didn't pick up fast enough because "Julia" hung up and never spoke to her or anyone else in charge.

Fast forward to today. She comes into work late with her hair dyed a new color. So basically this waste called in sick to get her hair colored leaving the department short the day before ("Amy" also called out) without speaking to anyone, while I got snarkiness about being actually sick Monday.

I cannot tell you how annoyed I was and still am. I actually went to find my  Director and went off about the whole thing. He just looked at me and said I could get mad/loud with him all I wanted if it made me feel better but there was nothing he could say or do about it no matter how annoying the situation may by.

Ugh!

Hospital Visits, Weddings, Birthdays, Sick People, Et Cetera...

As you've probably noticed I've been M.I.A.-ish for like a week and a half. Well, I've had a bunch of randomness happening in life thus keeping me away from my computer. I've been dealing with my family, visiting people in the hospital, more than one person with cancer, my sister's birthday, my college friends' wedding, etc. And on top of everything I haven't been feeling well on and off for the past two weeks. I don't know about you guys, but when I'm not feeling so hot I'm super unmotivated.

But that all being said, I'm back and I'm ready to blog!

Mini Life Update...

I know I haven't written anything in a while (My last post was pre-scheduled, so I really haven't sat down and posted in a bit) and that's because my life has been crazy, and not necessarily in a good way. I'm not gonna go into great detail about everything right now but I promise towards the end of next week I will be posting tons of stuff. For now here is the bullet point version of various things I've had to deal with for the past few weeks...
  • My mom spent a few days in the hospital
  • We went to Virginia for Christmas & got stuck there longer than planned
  • I got sick (Cough, fever and all that other good stuff)
  • On New Year's Day I cut my finger open (left pointer), went to the ER and got stitches
  • Went back to work for a weird work day today
So yeah... As you all can probably guess the main reason I can't really blog at the moment is the having stitches thing. It's hard to type with my finger all dressed in a splint and it honestly hurts a bit to type. So once I get the stitches out I promise I will be back in full force.

Thank you guys for being so awesome. I hope you all had a great holiday season & New Years! I'll talk to you soon!

The Sick Day Theory...

So I have this theory, whenever I call in sick at some point within the same week "Julia" will also call in sick. My Department Head refuses to believe this, even though it happens every time, and the other ladies in my department quickly jumped on the bandwagon.

"Julia" has proven this theory right once again this week. On Monday I called in sick and surprise surprise, she calls in sick today. This cannot be some reoccurring coincident! I swear this woman has some sort of issue! I just can't figure out what it is. Thoughts?

Home Sick...

I woke up this morning with a pounding headache. It was so bad that I was going to call the library and tell my Department Head that I'd be late to work (I figured I'd take something and wait for it to kick in), but the minute I went to grab my phone to call a wave of nausea came over me and I knew there was no way in hell I was going to work today. So, I basically slept all day today. Fun huh?

A Plague On Both Your Departments...

Because three out of the seven individuals that work in my Department are currently sick, I am working all by my lonesome tonight and I am loving it. I'm probably going to jinx it by even writing about it before 9:00pm, but I am...

And hell broke loose the minute I started writing this. I had a woman come in looking for science fair project books on animal behavior and I ended up having to call like five libraries trying to see if they'll send them to me. Then I just was bombarded by people looking for materials that have magically gone missing.

Gotta love when you speak too soon.

365 Days Of Pictures: Day 308...

It figures that since I'm supposed to go to Vegas next week that I'd get sick this week. I currently have a sore throat and a higher temperature than normal, so it's lots of tea for me.

Sushi Date...

Miss Erin came to visit me at work today (When isn't she visiting me at work...) because we had a sushi lunch date planned for this brisk afternoon. She got to the library a little before 1:00pm and waited around until someone actually arrive at work because I had been alone all morning because "Julia" called out sick.

The minute my Department Head arrived I ran away for my glorious glorious sushi date -- We haven't had sushi in a while so it was a super happy thing for both of us seeing that we can each devour crazy amounts of sushi. We each ordered and ate too much sushi in my hour lunch break and then we headed back to the library so she could download stuff to her evil evil eReader. While she was doing so she ended up teaching my Department Head about the game Angry Birds and had her playing it at her desk. It was kinda funny.
Eventually she left and now I am again alone at the Reference Desk because my Department Head ran away on her own dinner break. I cannot wait for 5:00pm.

A Rash Or A Hangover?...

Apparently one of my coworkers had the nerve to say to my Department Head when I called in sick last Friday (because I had a horrible rash covering my face and neck) that I was probably calling in because I had a hangover from the holiday party I went to the night before. Unfortunately my Department Head won't tell me who said it (She did tell me that she did put said person in their place because I texted her a picture of my neck) but I'm assuming it was "Julia" because it sounds like something that would come out of her mouth. I was so mad when she told me because I've come to work hungover before and I would never call in because of that. I had a terrible rash covering face and neck almost all day, I looked like Freddy Krueger. The amount of medication I took and put on my face was ridiculous, and when I came into work I made a point of telling everyone about it and saying that the person who implied that I called in sick because I had drank too much the night before was a jerk.

What is this woman's problem? Hasn't she ever heard the saying "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones..." because she has called in for some stupid crap over the years. My favorite being that she has her period and her cramps a so bad she can't come to work. Really?! You're gonna use that excuse in a female dominated field? She is such an idiot.

Sick Sisters...

I wasn't feeling so hot today so I ended up staying home and sleeping for the majority of the day. I wasn't the only person home sick today at my house, my sister also wasn't feeling well today and she called in sick too. I guess you could consider my house the plague house today.

Apology...

"Mama Page" just informed me that while I was out sick during the week that "Julia" came up to her and apologized because she heard that she was upset with her for complaining about her neck and back injuries because "Mama Page" got into a real accident unlike herself. During the conversation "Julia" promised never to talk about her neck and her back pains again around her and told her that she was sorry if she offended her.

"Mama Page" never actually said anything about "Julia" complaining, I actually was the one that was annoyed that "Mama Page" got into a real accident (She had to be airlifted to a hospital and such) and she comes to work everyday and doesn't complain about her injuries when I know she is in pain. "Julia" got into a little fender bender and complains like she is going to die about her neck and her back.

I was really happy to hear that "Julia" heard whatever she heard and she is going to shut up from now on.

Sent Home From Work...

I wrote about my trip to the emergency room, but I failed to mention that I did indeed try to go to work this morning and after five minutes of listening to me cough my Department Head told me to go home because she didn't wanna hear me coughing all day -- It was apparently making her uncomfortable. It was a really big deal for her to send me home because she is very much so a suck it up and stay at work kinda person. I was glad to go home and nap on the couch. It was good for me.

Trip To The Emergency Room...

Today I had enough with this terrible cough, so I called my doctor to try to get her to call in a prescription for a cough suppressant to the pharmacy for me. Instead of doing that she talked me into going to the local emergency room to have a chest x-ray to make sure that I don't have pneumonia. So my mother and I headed over to the local hospital where they took forever and a day to deal with me.

Stupid Shit The Hospital Staff Did While I Was There:
  • Didn't give me the option not to pee in a cup after I told them I wasn't pregnant. Yes, apparently you can refuse to pee in the cup. My mother just told me today that you can (She works in a hospital).
  • Took an hour to get me into the x-ray room. The x-rays took less than 5 minutes.
  • Let a woman (Who obviously needed a psych consult) discuss the fact that she believed that she was being raped in her sleep by her cousin landlord person within earshot of other patients. She was literately sitting two seats away from me and all they did was block her in with a curtain. The woman was talking about being raped in her sleep, feeling that her vagina and anus had been penetrated when she woke up, how her hair was being cut in her sleep, etc. It was crazy. My mom had to hit me from laughing because it was really ridiculous. It actually made me miss the days in college when I ended up at Binghamton General Hospital sitting next to people who were brought in by the police and handcuffed to the chairs.
  • My mother went up to the ER desk and torn into the woman there about my x-rays being read and the woman told her that they weren't developed after an hour of taking them. My mother pointed out to the woman that she herself works in a hospital and that it doesn't take that long to develop x-rays. After causing the woman to stutter, my mother informed her that if we didn't see a doctor in 10 minutes that we'd be leaving and that there was no way in hell we'd be paying the ER bill when they sent it.
  • My mother confronted the first resident (Some Asian doctor) that walked past us about my x-rays being read and he was so flustered that he didn't come back to say anything to us. This cause my mother and I to bitch out the ER doctor that eventually came up to me with another resident about the "Asian" doctor -- The ER doctor got all defensive because he just walked in.
  • Before the ER doctor had a chance to be defensive, he came up to me talking about when the results of my blood work came back. Seeing as I had no blood work taken my mother and I both went off about how no blood work was taken and that they could have taken it anytime in the hour and a half after they took my x-rays but instead they ignored me.
  • A nurse asked me who I was being helped by around the two and a half hour mark and I told her that no one there was helping me and that the staff was completely useless. I scared her away, she didn't come back.
  • A different nurse came up to me after sitting around for almost three hours and told me they wanted to take blood to make sure I didn't have Pertussis (Whooping cough). This is the point where I told them I was done and wanted to be discharged because they sucked.
So, it took me three hours, a bunch of bullshit and bitching out five hospital staff members to get a bottle of cough syrup with codeine. I should have just called Erin and stole half of her bottle. That would have taken me all of five minutes.

365 Days Of Pictures: Day 218...

I Have Bronchitis...

Sorry I haven't really posted anything in the past few days, I've been feeling like death and I haven't really been on my laptop. I have bronchitis and the cough from it has been killing me -- Unfortunate for me the doctor I saw yesterday believes that coughing is a natural thing and doesn't prescribe cough suppressants, so all I got was a Z-Pak. The only good thing the doctor gave me was a note saying that I shouldn't be at work for the next couple of days, but seeing as I haven't been at work since Monday I'm gonna go in tomorrow and see how I feel. I'm really kinda tired, so I'm gonna go crash. I'll keep you up-to-date on the bronchitis saga.

Sick On A Sunday...

This is my first Sunday of the new Sunday season and I'm dying. Last night my body decided that it hated me and out of nowhere my temperature jumped to 100.3° and now I'm suffering. I'm having a mild TMJD flare up, my temperature is bouncing between 99.3° and 100.3°, I have a headache, I'm coughing like I'm a three pack a day smoker and I just feel like crap. So as you can guess the library is the last place I want to be when I feel like this. I've already put a bunch of teens in their place and told them I'm not in the mood for their crap today. I'm stuck here for another two and a half hours, I'll keep you up-to-date on how I feel unless I die at the desk that is.
