Christmas Wishlist

Since Christmas Eve is only a week away I thought that I'd throw together a last minute Christmas wishlist in case anyone wanted to know what I wanted for Christmas...
Is there anything you're wishing for? Lemme know what you're asking for this holiday season!

Sunday Steal

1. Do You Prefer Hardcover, Paperback Or Kindle... And Why?
In terms of just reading a book, I don't care as long as it's a physical book (I hate e-readers, yet I'm okay with audio books only because of my commute). But if I'm purchasing a book, which I don't do often, I prefer it to be a hardcover if possible.

2. If I Were To Own A Book Shop I Would Call It...
Hmm... You'd think that as a librarian I'd have a dream name for a book shop but I don't. If I did someday own a book shop it would have to have the word 'librarian' in it for sure. Maybe The Librarian's Book Den or something like that...

3. My Favorite Quote From A Book (Mention The Title) Is...
"Hysteria is impossible without an audience. Panicking by yourself is the same as laughing alone in an empty room. You feel really silly."
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. We must never, ever be boring."
4. The Author (Alive Or Dead) I Would Love To Have Lunch With Would Be...
Hmm... I would be down for a nice lunch with Edgar Allen Poe, Stephen King and Chuck Palahniuk.

5. If I Was Going To A Deserted Island And Could Only Bring One Book, Except For The SAS Survival Guide, It Would Be...
Thankfully I have a pretty active imagination, so I could probably just bring something like "14,000 Things To Be Happy About" by Barbara Ann Kipfer or something like that with lists.

6. I Would Love Someone To Invent A Bookish Gadget That...
I don't need bookish gadgets. Just give me a normal ass book.

7. The Smell Of An Old Book Reminds Me Of...
Work... I'm a librarian... What else did you expect my answer to be.

Oh, and FYI the glue used on new books smells like baby vomit. True story.

8. If I Could Be The Lead Character In A Book (Mention The Title), It Would Be...
Hmm.. I don't have a specific title that I'd want to be the main character in but probably some travel adventure mystical comedy type book, because that is basically my life anyways.

9. The Most Overrated Book Of All Time Is...
This is a very subjective question... That being said I fucking hate "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger, as well as "Lord of the Flies" by William Golding.

10. I Hate It When A Book...
Sucks... Is damaged...

“Water takes the shape of whatever is holding it at the time and although water can be so gentle, it's also  the most powerful and malleable force in the universe. That's also love, isn't it?  It doesn’t matter what shape we put love into, it becomes that, whether it’s man, woman or creature.”
- Guillermo del Toro on The Shape of Water

Still Remember Me?

Back in September I told you all I was going to buck the fuck up and get my shit back together, well that obviously didn't happen because my life continued to be a ball of chaos for all of the reasons I listed in that post and then I got super sick. Like, I got sick the day after my sister's wedding (October 1st to be exact) and I'm still not feeling great almost two months later. But that all being said, I'm determined to actually buck the fuck up this time and start blogging regularly no matter what. Again, thank you for baring with me as I try to get back on track. I really appreciate every one of you and all of the support you've shown me over the years.

Remember Me?

Back in May I mentioned that my life had been an utter ball of chaos, and well, it didn't stop being a ball of chaos. The chaos just snowballed and that's why I haven't been around much. Between traveling, Justin's grandmother passing away, Justin's grandfather moving, my Department Head having cancer and going through chemo, being short staffed at work, losing all of my photos off Photobucket, wedding stuff, etc. I've been stretched pretty thin.

That being said, I'm trying to buck the fuck up (Which is something I tell anyone who complains too much to me about their life problems) and get my shit together. So thank you for baring with me as I try to get back on track. I really appreciate every one of you and all of the support you've shown me over the years.

Kristina's Bridal Shower...

As you may or may not know, my younger sister is getting married next month and I am her matron of honor. And because of this privilege she bestowed upon me, it was my job to throw her the bridal shower of her dreams
. Thanks to the financial backing of our mother and her future mother-in-law I was able to pull off a not too shabby shindig, which we threw in the party room of a restaurant here on Long Island for her and her guests to enjoy.
As you can kinda tell, it was your typical wine themed bridal shower with food, drinks, games, silly hats, etc. Plus a beautiful "I Love Lucy" (1951-1957) themed cake that I bought as a present for my Lucille Ball loving sister (FYI - She started to cry when she saw it, I'm really good at making her cry in both good and bad ways).

I don't know what the guests would say but I think I threw one nice ass bridal shower for my sister. And I know that at least she agrees because she called me when she got home and was on the phone with me for almost twenty minutes telling me how much she loved it. Which made me so happy because I put a lot of thought and effort into it for her.

Lisa's Baby Shower...

For those of you that may or may not know, my cousin Lisa is pregnant. So this past weekend my sister, mother and I attended her baby shower which was thrown for her by her sister-in-law.

As you can see from the pictures below it was your typical baby shower with food, games, present opening, photo booth props and lots of pink because she is having a girl (Whose name she revealed to us at the end of the party).
Despite me not being big into things like this (I'm not a fan of showers of any sort and I had Lisa's baby shower this past weekend and I'm throwing my sister a bridal shower this upcoming weekend) I had a really nice time but most importantly, Lisa loved it. So it was a good day.

How do you feel about showers of any sort? Love them? Hate them? Lemme know.

8 Tour | Incubus At Jones Beach...

As you all may or may not know, Incubus is not only my favorite band but my sister's also. So every time they come through New York on tour we go to see them. And as you can probably guess, this was the case this past Wednesday night when they played Jones Beach Theater here on Long Island.

My sister, her fiancé, Nicole and I (And almost everyone we went to high school with apparently according to Facebook and Instagram) went to rock out to Incubus with Jimmy Eat World (Whom I didn't pay attention to until they played "The Middle" and "Sweetness") on their 8 Tour.

As always, Incubus was amazing. They just put on such a great show and are so incredible to watch live -- Trust me I know, I've seen them live eleven times in the past fourteen years. In addition to that, I love going with my sister because we always have a great time no matter what the weather is like (When we saw Incubus with Linkin Park [Can we talk about how incredibly sad it is that Chester Bennington committed suicide?] in 2012 on the Honda Civic Tour, it was so gross outside and we had to wear ponchos but it was still a great time) or whatever else is going on.

For any of you interested, here is the setlist they played that night. I thought it was a good mix of their older hits and newer songs.

Setlist
Love in a Time of Surveillance
Warning
Nimble Bastard

Wish You Were Here

Photo Issues...

Unbeknownst to me Photobucket, the website I've been using to host my pictures forever, changed their policy on 3rd party hosting and now I have to go back into probably all of my posts to fix the photos in them. Which obviously does not have me in a good mood, I'm actually pretty fucking angry about it. So as soon as I calm down I'm going to start the task of fixing everything, so I apologize in advance for the appearance of everything. Thank you all in advance for baring with me through this, I will hopefully have everything fixed soon.

Little Distractions | Minions Take The Stage Clip...

I don't know about you guys, but sometimes I need a little life distraction (Especially with all the chaos I've been dealing with for the past couple of months). And today's little life distraction was in the form of a clip that was sent to me from Despicable Me 3 (2017), which is coming to theaters June 30th, that just made me smile.

So here's the clip for all of you that need a silly little life distraction...

I know it's super silly but it was cute and it made me smile. And boy did I needed to smile today. It took my mind off of all of the chaos to think about something fun like going to the movies with Toni and the kids, etc.

Did you need a little life distraction today? What was it?
