Stuck In My Head | Gloria Estefan...

As you may or may not know, I work one night a week. So that means I get to lie in bed and watch various morning shows one day a week. Well, while I was mindlessly watching morning shows this morning I saw a commercial for a Gloria and Emilio Estefan musical that is starting next month called Get On Your Feet. Needless to say I'm very excited about this because I grew up listening to Gloria, especially her 1992 Greatest Hits album (I literally had it on cassette tape in my Saturn up until the day I cleaned it out to get rid of it) and 1993's Mi Tierra.

So because of all of this, I've made plans with my sister to see the musical (It all actually worked out really well because we were already going into the city October 24th because I was invited by On Location Tours to take a free tour with them and she was joining me, and the tour happens to end an hour and a half before the first show of the day) and was listening to Gloria in the car all morning. Thus I have a mixture of her songs stuck in my head currently. But the one that sticks out to most is "Music Of My Heart" with N'Sync (You all know I how much I love N'Sync). So here is the music video for that...

FUN FACT: I danced with my father at my wedding to the song "Mi Tierra"

Fear Of Elevators | Weird Library Patrons...

Surprisingly for some time now we haven't had an exceptionally noteworthy happenings with patrons, which is a good thing from a work standpoint but bad thing when you're a librarian-blogger who likes to share wonky work related stories on your blog. But the other day we had a little incident, if you could call it that, that I thought I should share because it was a little weird and something that none of us have ever dealt with before.

A patron walked up to the reference desk (I happened to be in our office, which is directly behind the reference desk, at my own desk doing something) and I hear her ask Nicole if she would be able to take her stroller downstairs for her. She proceeds to explain to Nicole, which I could not hear, that she is afraid of elevators and she didn't have anyone with her that could take her stroller down for her.

So Nicole walks into the office and asks me if she could bring the stroller downstairs for her. After a bit of confusion, because I thought she literally wanted Nicole to carry her stroller down the stairs for her, I tell Nicole (Even though I am really confused by the situation) she can ride in the elevator with the lady's stroller.

Two minutes later Nicole comes back up and I ask her what the hell was that all about. She explains to me the part of the conversation she had with the lady that I didn't hear and noted that she knew her from one of her other jobs, which is the reason she rode down the elevator for her.

Still, even after hearing the explanation my Department Head (Who has never in her almost thirty as a librarian, had anyone ask her to do that before) and I were still confused. Why would you bring a stroller with you if you're afraid elevators? Why wouldn't you leave it downstairs or in your car? Why wouldn't you have like a BabyBjorn or some other baby carrying contraption?

So yeah, that happened the other day and we were/still are perplexed by the whole thing.

The Visit...

Wednesday night I had the opportunity to attended an advance screening of M. Night Shyamalan's newest offering The Visit (2015), which I was super excited about being invited to because the trailer for this movie looks awesome.

Writer/director/producer M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable) and producer Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, The Purge and Insidious series) welcome you to Universal Pictures’ The Visit.  Shyamalan returns to his roots with the terrifying story of a brother and sister who are sent to their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm for a weeklong trip.  Once the children discover that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home are growing smaller every day.

Shyamalan produces The Visit through his Blinding Edge Pictures, while Blum produces through his Blumhouse Productions alongside Marc Bienstock (Quarantine 2: Terminal).  Steven Schneider (Insidious) and Ashwin Rajan (Devil) executive produce the thriller.

Genre: Thriller
Cast: Kathryn Hahn, Deanna Dunagan, Peter McRobbie, Ed Oxenbould, Olivia DeJonge
Written and Directed by: M. Night Shyamalan
Produced by: M. Night Shyamalan, Jason Blum, Marc Bienstock
Executive Producers: Steven Schneider, Ashwin Rajan
Rated: PG-13
Release Date: September 11th, 2015

Seeing as this is an M. Night Shyamalan film I don't want to go into too much detail about the movie, but what I will say is that it totally wasn't what the three of us (Myself, Nick and my sister's boyfriend Erik) were expecting and because of that we loved it more than we would have if it was what we thought it was. Does that make any sense?

If it doesn't, just know that we all really enjoyed it. It was ninety-four minutes of pure entertainment in my opinion, as well as that of the guys.

It's the kind of movie where if there is a good crowd (That is if you're into an interactive crowd. I am when it comes to horror/thriller type movies), it'll be even better. There were lots of people jumping back in their seats, screaming and making comments in the theater (I love me a well timed "OH HELL NO!") and it was just golden.

Overall I'm super happy with M. Night's newest offering to the World, especially since the last film of his that I saw was The Happening (2008) and I was not a fan of that one. I'd very much so recommend The Visit (2015) to anyone that enjoys M. Night's films or the thriller genre in general.

Married Life | One Year Wedding Anniversary...

It's official, Justin and I have been married a year as of today and throughout the course if this past year I've had people come up to me and ask me how I'm enjoying married life or if I feel different. So I thought I'd do a little post based off of those two questions with answers from myself and Justin.

And for me, the answer to of the above questions is it's the same except I feel like Justin is a little nicer to me. Not that he was ever mean to me or anything but he's done things in the past year that are very considerate that boyfriend Justin wouldn't have done and I appreciate that he's done those things. So I am very much so enjoying married life and feel like only slightly different.

When I asked Justin the questions (And I told him not to be snarky with his answer) he responded with...
"I went on a work trip a few months ago. One of my single co-workers was complaining that he didn't want to go home because he had no clean socks and the thought of doing laundry after driving home 500 miles was depressing. I told him that he should get a wife. His sock problem would be fixed. Forever."
Not exactly what I was looking for but that is apparently how Justin feels about marriage. I guess what he is saying is that he feels more taken care of (Not that I didn't do his laundry when we were just dating and living together).

But yeah... A year into marriage and this is how we both feel. Hopefully things don't change much by this time next year when we are celebrating our second wedding anniversary.

Stuck In My Head: Got Your Money...

For the past week I've had to run around doing various errands during my lunch break, so I've been in my car listening to the radio (Because it's kind of a waste to only listening to a podcast for like ten or so minutes a clip). And the station I've been stuck on all week has been Hot 97 because they do a throwback at noon mix and I absolutely love hearing all of the old rap/hip hop song from when I was in middle school and high school.

So that all being said, I've had Ol' Dirty Bastard's 1999 single "Got Your Money" stuck in my head all week.
