Year In Review 2014 by Misfit Librarian on Grooveshark

I don't know how 2014 was for you guys, but it was a really good year for me and I hope that 2015 is even better.

Stay safe tonight and enjoy your New Year's Eve! I'll talk to you in 2015.

January Photo-A-Day | Week One List...

You know how I always give you Fat Mum Slim's monthly photo a day list a few days before the new month starts? Well she changed things up for 2015 and is doing her photo a day as a weekly thing. So instead of one big list for the month she'll be putting out a list every week.

Why you ask? Well on her blog she wrote that she wanted to shake things up and try something different because the whole month list was too much commitment for some (Like yours truly who always forgets to take her daily pictures but really does intend on doing it every time she repost the list).

So for those of you interested here is Fat Mum Slim's January photo a day week one list...
Taking part is the same as always but here are the rules in case you forgot...
  1. Using the list as inspiration, take a photo each day.
  2. Share it on Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #FMSphotoaday. You can also share on your blog or on Facebook by joining her group.
  3. Check out other people's photos and like them or comment on them.
So that's it. Lemme know if you're going to take a crack at it. And I swear I am going to make it through a full month of her lists at some point in 2015.

Sunday Steal | In 2014...

In 2014...

I gained: a husband.

I lost: someone who claimed to be my friend for the past twelve years.

I stopped: wearing glasses because I had LASIK in January.

I started: thinking more about my future.

I was hugely satisfied by: the choices I made in terms of my wedding.

And frustrated by: the people that gave me hell for those choices.

I am so embarrassed that I: am still so upset over the actions of a fake friend.

Once again, I: did what I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it.

Once again, I did not: save any money.

The biggest physical difference between me last December and this December is: I don't wear glasses and I have purple hair.

The biggest psychological difference between me last December and this December is: nothing.

I loved spending time: with my family and friends.

Why did I spend even two minutes: crying over things I couldn't control.

I should have spent more time: paying attention to the shadiness going on.

I regret buying: nothing.

I will never regret buying anything I did for my wedding or honeymoon even though with that money I could have probably bought myself a new (to me) car.

I cursed way too much.

I didn’t care enough to stop doing so.

My coworkers drove me crazy.

The most relaxing place I went was to Greece on my honeymoon.

Why did I go to the extra excursions, I should have forced Justin to let us explored on our own.

The best thing I did for someone else was pretend to be nice to someone they care for.

The best thing I did for myself was take "mental health" days from work when I needed them.

The best thing someone did for me, was marry me.

The one thing I’d like to do again, but do it better, travel.

Stuck In My Head: Uptown Funk...

Since I woke up this morning I've had Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk" featuring Bruno Mars stuck in my head and I don't mind it because I really like this song...

From The Hold Shelf (Or What I'm About To Read)...

"How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are" by Anne Berest, Audrey Diwan, Caroline de Maigret & Sophie Mas
From four stunning and accomplished French women -- at last -- a fresh and spirited take on what it really means to be a Parisienne: how they dress, entertain, have fun and attempt to behave themselves.

In short, frisky sections, these Parisian women give you their very original views on style, beauty, culture, attitude and men. The authors--Anne Berest, Audrey Diwan, Caroline de Maigret, and Sophie Mas -- unmarried but attached, with children -- have been friends for years. Talented bohemian iconoclasts with careers in the worlds of music, film, fashion and publishing, they are untypically frank and outspoken as they debunk the myths about what it means to be a French woman today. Letting you in on their secrets and flaws, they also make fun of their complicated, often contradictory feelings and behavior. They admit to being snobs, a bit self-centered, unpredictable but not unreliable. Bossy and opinionated, they are also tender and romantic.

You will be taken on a first date, to a party, to some favorite haunts in Paris, to the countryside, and to one of their dinners at home with recipes even you could do -- but to be out with them is to be in for some mischief and surprises. They will tell you how to be mysterious and sensual, look natural, make your boyfriend jealous, and how they feel about children, weddings and going to the gym. And they will share their address book in Paris for where to go: At the End of the Night, for A Birthday, for a Smart Date, A Hangover, for Vintage Finds and much more.

How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are will make you laugh as you slip into their shoes to become bold and free and tap into your inner cool.

BONUS

Justin is currently reading...

"Heart-Shaped Box" by Joe Hill (Stephen King's son)
'Buy my stepfather's ghost' read the e-mail. So Jude did. He bought the dead man's suit, delivered in a heart-shaped box, because he wanted it: because his fans ate up that kind of story. It was perfect for his collection: the genuine skulls and the bones, the real honest-to-God snuff movie, the occult books and all the rest of the paraphanalia that goes along with his kind of hard/goth rock. But the rest of his collection doesn't make the house feel cold. The bones don't make the dogs bark; the movie doesn't make Jude feel as if he's being watched. And none of the artefacts bring a vengeful old ghost with black scribbles over his eyes out of the shadows to chase Jude out of his home, and make him run for his life...

In terms of the books from last edition, I loved "Flea Market Fabulous: Designing Gorgeous Rooms with Vintage Treasures" by Lara Spencer it was a nice quick read with beautiful pictures and some really neat design ideas. I'd totally interloan this book again whenever I get my own house for design inspiration.

"365 Style" by Nicky Hilton was also a pretty good quick read. I like reading fashion books, so anytime I can get my hands on one I'll read it and this one a decent one if you don't mind the Hiltons.
